ON December 13, 2021, cops rushed to West Charlotte High School around 3pm local time.

The police presence came after an incident was reported at the school and residents want to know what is going on.

Was there a shooting at West Charlotte High School?

A video on the citizen app, which was seen by WCNC, reportedly showed multiple Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department vehicles near the visitor parking lot of the school.

It was later reported that the police response was due to an alleged school shooting.

At this time, police have not confirmed if anyone has been injured however, they have confirmed that shots were "fired on the property but not inside any school building."

WCNC later reported that this incident comes just one week after two weapons were found in the school's parking lot for a total of 21 found this year alone.

In a video message posted on Thursday night, CMS Superintendent Earnest Winston called what he’s seen this year a "disturbing and dangerous pattern of violent behavior."

A press conference is expected later this evening.

The state-funded school was founded in 1938 and is home to grades 9-12.

The school also offers students an array of sports including football, volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country, soccer, basketball, swimming, cheerleading team, dancing team, wrestling, indoor track, softball, baseball, and outdoor track, according to their website.
