Multiple fatalities reported in motor vehicle collision on Long Island

Multiple people were killed when two vehicles collided early Tuesday on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island, according to reports.

The accident occurred about 5:15 a.m. on the eastern lanes near Exit 29, in the town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, police said.

A motorcycle and a third vehicle were also involved in the accident, according to WCBS 880.

There was no immediate official word about the number of victims, but WCBS 880’s Tom Kaminski reported at least four fatalities— two men and two women.

The Southern State Parkway is currently closed eastbound and traffic is being diverted at exit 27.

The cause of the collision is under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
