MTA subway conductor punched in the face while locking up train

A female train operator was punched in the face in an unprovoked, random attack Monday afternoon, cops said.

The 42-year-old operator was locking up the F train at the end of the line in Coney Island station around 1:40 p.m. when she was hit in the left eye, according to the NYPD.

The woman was taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where she was treated for swelling on her eye.

The Transport Workers Union said MTA worker, who has three years on the job, was waiting for a CAT scan Monday evening.

“While the mayor focuses on running for president, transit workers continue to get assaulted,” union President Tony Utano said in a statement. “What is he doing to make the subway safer? It’s not just workers who are at risk, it’s riders too. Something has to be done.”
