One of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite fashion designers was mugged of her watch this morning by axe-wielding moped robbers.
Amanda Wakeley, the British fashion designer who has supplied evening dresses to countless celebrities and royals, was mugged near Chelsea Harbour, west London at around 9.30am.
The thieves let the tyres of her car down, stalling her, before riding up and threatening her with an axe.
Ms Wakeley, 57, is said to be unhurt, but a source close to her told MailOnline ‘this has obviously been a terrifying experience’.
She is said to have thanked police for their response and is determined to help catch the muggers, providing a photo of the moped’s number plate.

Her partner Hugh Morrison posted online: ‘Urgent, Amanda Wakeley was mugged this morning for her watch as she was getting into her car.
‘The moped assailants had earlier let down her tyres to make her stop to investigate and came up behind her, threatening her with an axe.
‘She is unhurt but naturally shocked.
‘The police have been amazing but say that this happens 5-6 times every day in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and have asked us to share this.
‘There are a lot of witnesses and the police feel that the culprits will be caught.
‘In the meantime, Amanda just wants to share her experience and hopes that everyone stays safe.’
He shared a photo of the muggers, one wearing a blue motorbike helmet, and gave the registration plate of the moped as LD08 HTZ.
The Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex are both big fans of Ms Wakeley’s designs and have repeatedly warn them to formal occasions
The Met Police is investigating. A spokesman said: ‘Police were called at approximately 09.30am on Wednesday, 13 November to reports of a robbery in SW10.
‘The victim, a woman believed aged in her 50s, was threatened by two males on a moped.
‘One was armed with an axe. Her watch was stolen during the incident. There were no reports of any injuries. No arrests have been made and enquiries into the circumstances continue.
‘Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD1848/13Nov. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’
Ms Wakeley becomes the latest celebrity to fall victim to moped criminals, following stand-up comic Michael McIntyre last year and Arsenal footballer Mesut Özil earlier this year.
