Girl, 3, is launched 100ft into the air after getting trapped in a kite

Terrifying footage of a girl, 3, being thrown around in the air after becoming caught in the strings of a kite has been shared on Facebook.  

The youngster was remarkably unhurt in the ordeal which saw her catapulted 100ft into the sky as if on a theme park ride. 

In the film, worried parents shriek in fear as they are powerless to stop what happening.

Reports said the toddler was violently flung around for 30 seconds while trapped in the giant tail. 

The film then shows the wind speed changing dramatically and she is dropped into the hands of the awaiting crowd. 

Dozens of parents and children are then seen crowding around to check whether the girl is ok. 


The incident took place at a kite festival in the seaside town of Nanlioao in Taiwan. According to Taiwan English News, it happened at 3.40pm local time today. 

Reports said the girl was frightened but suffered no physical injuries.

The Hsinchu City Government immediately suspended the kite festival, and have promised to implement a safety review.

The annual event sees international kite flying teams performing tricks and stunts which huge kites, that are often shaped like superheroes or comic book characters.
