Diner horrified after ordering £17 Toby Carvery to door and getting uncooked vegetables and a few measly bits of meat

A DINER craving a Toby Carvery was horrified when her £17 grub turned up at her door looking like "a dog's dinner".

Nicki White opened up her eagerly awaited food delivery to find a bunch of undercooked vegetables and just a few measly scraps of meat.

The 26-year-old was expecting a delicious Sunday lunch which could help revive her after being unwell – but instead got the "worst roast she had ever eaten".

The mum ordered two meals from the Toby Carvery branch in Ramsgate, Kent, via Just Eat, which rocked up late.

"I pre-ordered 2 hours before and it was still late," she wrote in a Facebook post.

"A driver turned up to collect but wasn’t ready so he left and had to send another driver. Will never order a takeaway from them again."

Nicki finally opened up her Toby takeaway for her and her daughter to discover her food resembled a plate of Christmas leftovers.

She explained: "It was undercooked, the portion was small, it was just unsatisfactory.

"Putting it simply, it was the worst roast I have ever eaten.

"I would normally go to the restaurant, but because I wasn’t feeling well my daughter wanted a roast so I thought I would give it a go.

"Never again."

Social media users couldn't believe the size of the roast as the carvery is renowned for its huge portions for a bargain price.

Nicki, who lives in Ramsgate, said she paid £17 for one adult portion and one child portion of the disappointing dinner on September 12.

She shared snaps of her paltry roast on Facebook, sparking chaos amongst carvery lovers.

Nicki told users: "If anyone’s thinking of getting a Toby Carvery delivered. Don’t do it! Absolute rip off!"

ROAST-GATE

One commented: "That’s why I don’t go there, let alone take away! The number of microwaves in that place is shocking!"

Another added: "I’ve had quite a poor take away too before – so I didn’t bother again."

A third said: "Had the same problem. Make a formal complaint to them."

Another disgruntled diner said they had a "similar experience" after ordering on the same day and said, "they even forgot our pigs in blankets!"

Nicki has complained to the Toby Carvery chain and despite it being one of her favourite feasts, she has vowed never to go again.

The Toby chain – owned by Mitchells & Butlers – is investigating roast-gate.

Others could not believe the mum's complaints as they said they had always enjoyed brilliant meals there.

The Sun Online contacted Mitchells & Butlers for comment.

We previously told how the company extended the expiry dates on all gift cards for the carvery branches, Miller & Carter and Harvester that ran out during lockdown – leaving one million meals to be claimed.
