Boy, 11, who had 6in hole blasted in shoulder by burglar armed with shotgun coud lose his arm – The Sun

A BOY of 11 had a 6in-wide hole blasted in his shoulder as his dad wrestled with a burglar over a shotgun, a court has heard.

The lad, who also had a knife held to his throat by one of four masked raiders, might lose his arm.

He was shot as his father, a gun club member, came to after being punched and grabbed a shotgun he spotted on the floor.

Prosecutor Claire Hebden said: “He and a man began fighting over the gun.

"His 11-year-old son rushed forward, and the gun was discharged.

“He says the other man had his finger on the trigger. He noticed blood on his son.

"He went pale and understood he was shot. The 11-year-old is in critical care in an induced coma.

"Doctors are not sure if they can save his arm.”

At least one raider dressed as a courier to deliver a package at the family’s home in Upminster, East London.

The father was punched and the gang burst in.

They threatened the boy and his mother with a knife before fleeing with jewellery.

Three men have appeared before Barkingside JPs and will appear at crown court later.
