Virgin River season three is on the way to Netflix and fans are still waiting to find out who shot Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson). His new girlfriend Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) arrived at the bar just in time and it is hoped Jack will pull through. The creators of the series have suggested this particular storyline could continue on for longer than fans expected.

Will Jack’s shooter be revealed in Virgin River season 3?

Virgin River is a popular romance drama series on Netflix and it provides the perfect source of escapism for fans.

The series is set in the fictional titular town and it follows the evolving relationship between nurse Mel and Jack Sheridan.

They had just confessed their feelings for one another when Jack made an impromptu trip to his bar.

Little did he know, someone had been waiting for him and when Mel found him, he had been shot in the abdomen.

Fans are convinced he will survive, but the question of who shot him remains a mystery.

While they had hoped the answer would be revealed in the upcoming third season, the creators of the series have suggested otherwise.

Showrunner Sue Tenney said the storyline surrounding Jack’s killer could play out across a number of years.

She told TVLine the main plot of season three would “go through trying to figure out who shot Jack” and it could play out “over several seasons”.

With this in mind, season three could end on another major cliffhanger if Jack’s shooter is kept secret.

Many fans have already come to their own conclusions as to who wanted the bar owner dead.

Most believe it was his ex-girlfriend, Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), who was jealous of his new relationship.

Others have suggested it was newcomer Jamie (Carmel Amit), who turned up suddenly to offer Jack’s friend Preacher (Colin Lawrence) a new job.

Season three will continue to introduce new characters, including Jack’s sister, Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen).

She is a district attorney who is likely to help out with Jack’s recovery and track down his killer.

The series is based on the books of the same name by Robyn Carr and there are 21 stories in the collection.

This suggests this particular plot could play out for a long time if it continues to take inspiration from the books.

Other storylines to be covered in season three include Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson) and his health.

At the end of the second season, he was about to announce some bad news to Hope (Annette O’Toole), but they were disrupted before he could say anything.

The showrunner also suggested there would be a significant time jump between the second and third season.

This could mean the season will open with Jack’s recovery and it may include flashbacks of what happened to him.

Season three is likely to air in the autumn of 2021, but no official release date has been given yet.

In the meantime, fans may wish to recap what happened at the end of the second season, which is streaming on Netflix now.

They took to Twitter to share their thoughts, with one saying: “I just finished both seasons of Virgin River on Netflix and I am HURT. I didn’t realize three wasn’t done yet and what in the hell.”

Another said: “Virgin River was pleasantly enjoyable. Excited to see how season three will unravel.”
