Why was Armie Hammer trending?

ARMIE Hammer isn't usually a name you see trending on Twitter, unless he has a big film out.

However, the Hollywood movie star, 34, has found himself the focus of some rather embarrassing tweets.

Who is Armie Hammer?

Born Armand Douglas Hammer on August 28, 1986, Armie is an American actor.

The son of businessman Michael Armand Hammer and the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer, he began his acting career with guest appearances in several television series which included a stint on Gossip Girl in 2009.

After this Hollywood began to notice him and he swapped the small screen for the big one when he played both twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss in The Social Network (2010).

Since then Armie has dominated the movies, starring in big films like Mirror, Mirror (2012), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), Call Me By Your Name (2017) and Netflix's Rebecca (2020).

Why was Armie Hammer trending on Twitter?

On January 10, 2021 Armie's name was trending on Twitter after a series of graphic Instagram DMs he allegedly sent to a woman were leaked publicly.

The actor's direct messages were not verified, prompting users to say they looked fake, according to a report from Just Jared.

There is a screenshot from the person who originally posted the alleged DMs saying that they are fake, but some are saying that this screenshot isn’t real either.

The most shocking thing about the alleged messages were that they included graphic accounts of sex acts.

They also talked about cannibalism, with one message saying : "I am 100% a cannibal."

Has Armie Hammer said anything about it?

Armie is yet to comment on the alleged DMs.

This also isn't the first time something of this nature has happened to him..

In 2017 Armie made headlines when he liked a series of tweets dealing with bondage and comparable aspects of sex.
