SURANNE Jones is stepping into the leading role of DCI Amy Silva for new BBC submarine drama Vigil.
The 43-year-old actress is a staple of British TV, but her husband Laurence prefers to stay behind the camera. Here's everything we know about Suranne's screenwriter beau…
Who is Suranne Jones' husband Laurence Akers?
Suranne Jones's husband Laurence Akers works as a screenwriter.
The 50-year-old wrote his first full length film Gone, which starred his wife, in 2017.
According to his writer's profile, Laurence is currently working on an original drama series with Expectation Entertainment.
He's also worked as a producer for the BBC.
Before he moved into the world of television and film, Laurence worked as a magazine editor, most notably for Nikon Pro magazine in 2020.
When did the couple meet and do they have kids?
Laurence and wife Suranne met in 2013 at the wedding of actress Sally Lindsay and musician Steve White and the pair tied the knot themselves in 2014 after less than a year of dating.
In March 2016 Suranne gave birth to the couple's only child, a son whose name Laurence and Suranna have decided to keep private.
It's not known if the couples plan to expand their family any further.
Who else has he dated?
Laurence was largely unknown before he met and married his wife, so we don't know much about his dating history before then.
Suranne, however, has had a number of high profile romances – once even getting involved in a celebrity love triangle.
In 2002, Suranne was pictured with then-boyfriend Jim Phelan and a future lover, Jonathon Wrather at the same event.
Suranne and Jonathon were just co-stars at the time but began dating two years later, after Suranne's engagement to IT worker Jim Phelan fell apart.
However, the co-stars-turned-lovers split a year later in 2005, and Suranne moved on to plumber Lorenzo Giove who she stayed with for three years before meeting now-hubby Laurence.
