Tipping Point slammed for 'lying to viewers' as new episode switched with repeat in last minute shake-up

TIPPING point viewers were left disappointed after an ITV blunder saw a new episode replaced with a repeat.

An ITV announcer stated that an “all new Tipping Point” would air during Monday’s episode.

However, as host Ben Shephard welcomed four contestants to the show viewers noticed the instalment wasn’t a new episode, and one even claimed the show was from 2018.

Frustrated viewers took to Twitter, as one said: “The announcer said all new Tipping Point before the episode but it’s season 8 from 2018.”

A second wrote: “They lied lol all repeats all summer of this and The Chase.”

A third penned: “How old is this episode?”

Another asked: “Where are the new episodes gone?!”

On Friday, Tipping Point viewers were left fuming after the programme was cancelled.

The programme first aired in 2012 with Ben hosting the game show from 4pm until 5pm on weekday afternoons.

The show was pulled from the schedule last Friday to make way for the first day of the Cazoo Derby Festival.

Coverage of the racing began at 1.30pm and it also impacted the shows airing before the live sporting event such as Loose Women, as the panel show was cut to a half-hour episode.

The live racing ran until 5pm, therefore quiz show The Chase was still able to air.

Host Ben didn't reference the cancellation but instead, he took to Twitter to praise a contestant from a recent episode.

He shared a clip of the moment a contestant won the grand jackpot prize of £10,0000.

Ben wrote: "Yes Andrew!!! What a question ace you were, terrifically played all the way to that whopping £10k jackpot.

"Massive congratulations, hope the money helps with your studies! #TippingPoint @TippingPointITV.”

Tipping Point returned to ITV on Monday with viewers expecting to see one of the new socially distanced episodes to air.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
