This Morning star Matthew Wright under fire as he brand's Queen's Jubilee 'a disgrace' on on-air rant

THE Morning viewers slammed pundit Matthew Wright as for his comments about Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The former The Wright Stuff host, 56, endured the wrath of royal-lovers on the ITV show as he slammed the celebrations to mark the popular monarch's 70th anniversary on the throne.

Her Platinum Jubilee celebrations are filled with events including today's Service of Thanksgiving.

Mark appeared alongside Gyles Brandreth to discuss the day's big stories and the conversation naturally turned to the Queen's big party.

"We were talking earlier and it's wonderful and the spectacle I get, but at a time when people..we are haemorrhaging money as a country," he started.

"If you were some kind of celebrity, who's spending loads… millions on parties when you're sort of bankrupt, people would be outraged and this is a disgrace but that's what we're doing as a nation."

Host Dermot O'Leary questioned him: "What do you think we should be doing?"

Matthew quickly snapped back: "I think it could all be scaled down just a bit."

While the 96-year-old did not attend Trooping the Colour, the Queen still came to the royal balcony to inspect the troops – using a walking stick for balance.

Her Majesty was later joined on the famed balcony by working royals, including attention-grabbing Prince Louis for the RAF flypast.

Despite her smiles yesterday, it was announced that the Queen would not attend the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, London.

For the first time, Prince Charles took the salute at Trooping the Colour on behalf of the monarch.

It was also reported that The Queen is suffering from several mobility issues that are forcing her to miss out on attending some events.

She might also miss one of her favourite events – the Epsom Derby – which takes place before the Platinum Party at the Palace.

As decisions are being made on the day about the Queen's attendance, things could change.

Hopefully, The Queen will be in good health to attend the Party At The Palace.
