‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond’s Best Chocolate Recipes

If you’ve been craving chocolate, The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond has you covered. Here are three of Drummond’s best chocolate recipes.

Chocolate pie

Fulfill your chocolate craving with Drummond’s creamy chocolatepie. The “accidental country girl” says this is Ladd’s favorite chocolate pie.If you’re going to make this dessert, be sure you have plenty of time. Thetotal prep time is 4 hours (it takes four hours for the pie to chill). However,it takes just 10 minutes to cook, and the recipe yields 10 servings. Here’swhat Drummond has to say about Ladd’s favorite chocolate pie:

Whenever my husband, the strapping stallion I call Marlboro Man, imagines chocolate pie—and I imagine that he imagines it frequently, because it’s one of his favorite desserts—he doesn’t think of French Silk Pie or Chocolate Chiffon Pie or Chocolate Chess Pie or any other variation. He thinks of this one.

This is just good ol’ basic, can’t-go-wrong, everyone-loves-it, super-easy-to-make, been-around-forever chocolate pie with a pudding filling, and my beloved could seriously eat a slice every day of his life and never get bored.

Top secret chocolate cake

There’s nothing like a delicious slice of chocolate cake todelight your taste buds. Drummond has a great recipe for chocolate cake thatcomes with a big secret. The Food Network star calls it a “top secret”chocolate cake because she doesn’t tell anyone she uses cake mix to create thistasty treat. Drummond believes it’s OK to take short cuts now and then.

For this recipe, you’ll need a box of dark chocolate cake mix, a cup of milk, ½ cup of melted butter, three beaten eggs, one cup of chocolate chips, and a tablespoon of vanilla. “That really helps elevate any sort of store-bought cake mix,” says Drummond during The Pioneer Woman show.

After mixing the cake ingredients and placing the mixture in a Bundt pan, Drummond bakes the cake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Test to see if the cake is done by sticking a toothpick inside it. If the toothpick comes out clean, you’re ready to go. Drummond suggests cooling the cake in the pan for 15 minutes. Afterward, take the cake out of the pan and cool it for another 25 minutes.

Chocolate mug cake

If you’re short on time, Drummond has a quick recipe for chocolate mug cake. The great thing about this recipe is you can make it in less than five minutes. All you need to make this quick and simple dessert is flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips.

First, mix the dry ingredients (except for the chocolate chips) into a 12-ounce microwave-safe mug. Next, stir in the wet ingredients. Then add the chocolate chips. Finally, microwave the mixture for 90 seconds. Drummond recommends letting your mug cake stand for 1 ½ to 2 minutes before you eat it. “Serve with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!” suggests Drummond.
