Alex Jones left the The One Show studio in fits of laughter as she addressed her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 44-year-old host was busy complimenting studio guest Katie Derham – who previously partnered with new judge Anton Du Beke – on her success in the competition in 2015.

Katie caught the TV star off-guard as she responded: "And yours too."

The Welsh star suddenly became flustered as she chirped back: "Oh not mine. Mine was a shambles."

Co-star Ronan Keating and the entire camera crew fell about the place laughing as Alex glanced down to move on with the show.

Later on in the programme, Katie returned to screens to discuss her presenting role for the upcoming Proms.

However, Alex had unfinished Strictly business to resolve and instead turned the conversation to her friendship with new judge Anton.

It was announced recently, that Anton – who has been a longstanding professional dancer on the programme – would take to the judging panel instead.

Wanting to know the gossip, Alex said to Katie: "We all know you still talk to Anton. So what's he feeling?

"What's the inside story?

Katie chimed: "I don't know the inside story but what I do know he is so excited about this opportunity.

"He is so talented and all the dancers respect his views and he is so knowledgeable."

She warned: "The only thing i would say is some celebrity would have the opportunity to dance with him like I did."

Back in 2011, Alex competed in the ninth series and was partnered with James Jordan.

Her time on the show wasn't a complete "shambles" as she placed fifth overall, narrowly missing out on a place in the final.
