The Masked Singer welcomed 11 contestants to the stage once again to give the performances of their lives while hiding who they really are. Along with presenter Joel Dommett and the famous panel on the ITV show, viewers have been throwing out theories left, right and centre for all of this year’s stars. One of them in the 2023 series is Rhino who had everyone in shock when he closed the second instalment of the unusual talent competition.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Masked Singer UK.

The Masked Singer’s characters are currently performing every other week as there are too many still to fit into one live show.

So fans were delighted when Rhino, dressed as an old-style cowboy, made his way onto the stage at the end of episode two.

He sang a rendition of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol which the audience clearly loved, going by their ongoing applause.

The panel guessed celebrities like Rylan Clark, Russell Brand, James Blunt and Freddie Flintoff but viewers at home think they know for sure who is behind Rhino.

The Masked Singer fans are predicting that Rhino is actually singer James Arthur who won The X Factor in 2012.

Sharing their thoughts, Twitter user Oliver Eyre tweeted: “Rhino has got to be James Arthur? Sounds just like him! #TheMaskedSingerUK.”

Niamh seconded: “Fully convinced Rhino is James Arthur #TheMaskedSingerUK” and Becky May Timmis added: “I’m pretty convinced that Rhino is James Arthur, that voice is so unique #TheMaskedSingerUK #MaskedSingerUK.”

Meanwhile, Maria J Underwood wrote: “Rhino has to be James Arthur right?! The voice is uncanny! #TheMaskedSingerUK.”

There are a number of clues from the clue package which could also link to the Say You Won’t Let Go singer.

Prior to his performance, Rhino is seen looking inside a record of the town’s “offences” where “two bad jokes” is listed.

This could tie in with Arthur’s three-day Twitter row he had with comedian Frankie Boyle in 2012.

After Boyle said he resembled a “tramp”, Arthur tweeted: “Poor old man making yet more s**t jokes about X Factor because he knows that’s the only way he can get attention any more.”

Another indication that this could be James Arthur is the riddle which he gave following his outstanding performance.

Rhino teased: “I’m chief of this town, and happy-go-lucky. But one of you guys might think I’m quite muggy.”

It has been pointed out that this could refer to his previous brief relationship with panellist and fellow singer Rita Ora.

The pair dated for a few months in 2013 which he talked about in his 2017 autobiography Back to the Boy.

TV personality and panellist David McCall went on to point out how Rhino seemed “humble”.

She said: “Rhino has been particularly emotive. There are people who completely draw you in.

“It’s lucky for Rhino, actually, that they can pull some emotion out of the bag, because it’s very, very hard in that

costume to give us anything at all. They are massive, and they are quite humble.
“They keep putting their little hooves together, it looks so sweet. If it’s possible to have a sweet rhino, this is it.”

So could it really be the former X Factor winner James Arthur behind Rhino?

The Masked Singer UK continues every Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
