This evening, The One Show presenters Alex Scott and Rylan Clark-Neal chatted to judge Shirley Ballas about the 2021 series of Strictly Come Dancing, as well as her new show about her life.

Shirley Ballas sat down at The One Show this evening and discussed her upcoming show, which details her personal life and professional career as a dancer and judge.

Heading off to Liverpool next month, Shirley gave a teaser on what fans can expect from her new show An Evening with Shirley Ballas.

“Well I think it’s going to be a rollercoaster evening.

“I wrote my book Behind The Sequins from age seven all the way up to getting the job on Strictly, through the marriages, through being engaged, having a child, winning in ‘83 and then trying to win again in ‘95 in an industry that I did suffer some bullying in.”

Shirley continued: “So it’s really, really quite an exciting journey and I’m hoping that lots of people will come out.”

She added that even non-fans can come and join, saying: “Even the trolls, I will accept them all and they can ask me anything to my face.

“I will answer it with pure dignity. It’s going to be fun.”

Shirley also promised some dancing and spinning on stage, as well as meeting the audience: “I hope it will be a fun, exciting evening as everybody is coming out of lockdown.”

However, what fans really want to know more about is the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing and which celebrities will be taking to the dancefloor.

When asked by Rylan and Alex for details, Rylan joked: “She knows something look at her face!”

Shirley laughing and nodding hinted at an exciting series ahead, replying: “Just when you think it couldn’t get any better.

“I’m telling you, it is a show not to be missed.”

“Sarah James, our executive producer, she goes all out, always has twists and turns.

“But this line-up, well, hello!”

Refusing to give the presenters any more hints, Shirley chatted about her dream contestants.

“I would love to think Prince Charles, or Camilla. I would love a member of the Royal Family.

“They’re avid Strictly watchers. I’ve met several of them and they love the show. Even Eugene or Beatrice would be lovely.

“They can all dance a little you know,” she added.

Before asking about Strictly’s latest line-up, Rylan and Alex spoke about plans for the upcoming bank holiday and their excitement for salons reopening.

Rylan jokingly commented: “Line of Duty and the prospect of going on holiday has kept the country going over the past few weeks.”

However, someone had already enjoyed their salon appointment, and Shirley spilled the details.

“I had it in my diary, I booked the whole day,” she said.

Before detailing her beauty treatments to laughs from all: “The beard waxed, had the upper lip waxed, had the eyebrows done, had the hair dyed good, a facial. I took my time and I enjoyed every minute of it.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
