Professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec appeared on Morning Live to discuss this season of Strictly Come Dancing. During the episode, Aljaž admitted that he and Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies “made a deal” that he would have to be the boss during their dance training sessions even though she is used to being in charge of hundreds of people in her day-to-day life.

Sara Davies stepped in to co-host Morning Live alongside Gethin Jones on Monday in the place of Aljaž’s wife Janette Manrara who was hosting a dance segment of the show.

Sara, known for her appearances on Dragons’ Den, and Gethin interviewed her Strictly dance partner Aljaž who was welcomed onto the show via a video link.

Gethin cheekily asked Aljaž: “We’ve got Sara and Janette – who is the boss in this threesome we have here?”

He scoffed: “I think that is the most rhetorical question I am ever going to answer.

“For the last ten years, Janette has been the boss in our relationship.

“And Sara Davies, in her normal life, looks after more than 200 people, so obviously she’s the boss.”

However, the Teeside businesswoman will have to take the lead from Aljaž if she has her eyes on winning the prestigious Glitterball Trophy.

Aljaž explained: “We made a deal as soon as we walked into the training room she lets me be the boss.

“I am so impressed by how much she has done as she’s been listening to everything that I’ve said. She’s been the perfect student.”

Sara replied: “I must admit when I watched Strictly back on Sunday morning, I was really pleased with my comments.

“I did work so hard on getting my footwork right and getting the timing right. But I didn’t let myself go in the moment and I didn’t appreciate it.”

Aljaž, who met the entrepreneur at the Angel of the North, also opened up about immersing himself in Sara’s family.

He explained how the 37-year-old is very close to her family and was concerned about missing her children during the weekends.

“She asked if we could start earlier and fit at least one school run in through the week, and I actually went above that and I made sure we started at the latest at 6am, so we can finish before 2pm or 3pm so Sara can do a school run every day,” Aljaž said.

“And I’ve actually been going with her and we get to the school at 3.30pm Gethin and we leave at about 6pm as there’s a lot of parents who want to talk.

He told Gethin that training up north is “such a beautiful thing” because of how supportive the locals are.

Sara is currently worth an incredibly £37million after fuelling her entrepreneurial spirit at university.

She started her very first business venture Crafter’s Companion with only £200 to pay for a website.

In 2019, Sara, who is originally from County Durham, became the youngest panellist on Dragon’s Den.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One.
