Clara Amfo looks set to waltz back to Strictly Come Dancing.

We can reveal the DJ is being lined up to take over as host of its spin-off show It Takes Two.

Bosses are on the lookout for someone new to front it after Zoe Ball quit, after presenting the show since 2011.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Zoe initially posted: "Dance lovers, after 10 joyous years I am waltzing away from It Takes Two.

She said it was "time for some new cha cha challenges" and told "the whole Strictly clan […] I will miss you all immensely."

A BBC spokesperson said at the time: "We'd like to thank Zoe for an amazing decade on It Takes Two, and she'll always be part of the Strictly family.

"We will miss her sense of fun, passion for all things dance, and those amazing sequinned jumpers. We'll announce plans for the show in due course."

Her decision to quit after 10 years was followed shortly after by professional dancer Ian Waite, who posted his own announcement just two hours later.

Ian wrote: "I will continue to support all my supremely talented fellow pro dancers, judges, celebs and look forward to their performances in 2021."

And after Clara proved to be a hit with viewers when she was a contestant last year, she has become a top target and has been called in for a string of secret meetings.

A show insider said: "Clara has had advanced talks about taking over as host. It is looking promising. The execs love her."

Execs are expected to make a final decision over who will take over as the new host within days.

Radio 1 star Clara is said to be "very keen" to get the gig.

She had left Zoe a comment upon her exit announcement, posting: "You do this job with such genuine joy and ease! Thank You for always making It Takes Two the sweetest addition to the experience!"

It Takes Two is a massive hit when it airs alongside Strictly every autumn. Aired every weeknight, it is regularly the most-watched programme on BBC Two.
