Strictly Come Dancing fans worried Giovanni Pernice will quit after awkward interview

Strictly Come Dancingfans have become worried that professional dancerGiovanni Pernicemay quit the show following an "awkward" interview.

The professional dancer, 32, and his celebrity partner TV and radio personalityRichie Anderson, 34, were voted off the dance competition in the Sunday night results show.

The duo appeared together on spin-off show It Takes Two on Monday (October 10) wherethey discussed their brief time on the show.

While Richie appeared quite emotional as he discussed his departure from the BBC one dance show, fans were quick to note that his professional partner was not quite so moved, with some suggesting that there may be tension between the two.

As the interview aired, one fan took to Twitter, writing: “This is absolutely the most awkward #ItTakesTwo interview ever.”

Another replied that they thought Giovanni looked “uncomfortable” and “not as gutted to be eliminated” as the dancers usually are.

While a third fan posted: “The tension is off the scale. Awkward between Richie and Gio,” to which one twitter user replied that the pair had “no chemistry.”

The conversation then switched to whether this awkwardness may lead to Giovanni quitting the show, with one viewer saying: “I sincerely hope he doesn't leave Strictly won't be the same without him!”

“How many pros have left within a year or two of winning the glitterball? Their shows become even faster sell outs and the merch can sustain them for a long time” asked another, referencing Giovanni’s win last year when paired withEastEndersactressRose Ayling-Ellis.

While rumours have swirled of a feud between Giovanni and Richie, the pair addressed these claimsin an It Takes Two appearance last week.

HostJanette Manraraasked them how training has been going following the first live show, to which Giovanni replied: “We’re having a good time, we’re definitely having a good time.

“Obviously it is a dance competition, at the end of the day, so we have to learn something but there is no problem between us. We are having a good time.”

He then spoke about how his plans for the competition are "the same" despite it being the first time he's been in a same-sex couple on the BBC One show.

“The plans are the same, to teach Richie how to dance. That is the point of the show. I’m a teacher, he’s a student,” Giovanni told Janette.
