Vi Highway (Gwen Taylor) is set to leave EastEnders after nearly two years, with the character having received big news during the latest outing of the serial.
After receiving a number of phone calls from an unknown number, Vi opened up to Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) about the mysterious caller, remarking that she, like most people, tends to ignore such calls.
Patrick, however, encouraged her to pick up the next time she received such a phone call, and she ultimately did just that, delighted to realise that the person on the other end of the call was none other than Stuart (Ricky Champ).
Vi told Patrick that Stuart has a new job and a new number, hence why he didn’t come up as contact on her mobile device, but explained that both he and Rainie (Tanya Franks) have been struggling with Roland.
The solution, however, was right there in front of everyone’s noses, with Vi deciding to leave the Square and become a live-in nanny for the couple.
Patrick, like viewers at home, was taken aback to find out that Vi would be departing.
Her final scenes will air on Thursday March 9, or you can watch them right now over on BBC iPlayer.
Vi is the second departure confirmed for the week in question with Ash Panesar’s (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha) exit scenes having aired during the very same episode that Vi made her decision to leave.
Ash, as viewers know, received the job opportunity of a lifetime and, despite Nish (Navin Chowdhry) trying to bully her into staying, the GP left the Square in emotional scenes after a heart-to-heart with mum Suki (Balvinder Sopal).
Before departing, however, Ash helped her mum out, encouraging controlling and abusive Nish to give Suki more responsibility in the businesses.
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
