The March broadcast, on which the presenter rubbished Meghan’s claims about her poor mental health, led to 54,595 protests. Morgan tweeted that he was “delighted” to top Ofcom’s list, noting that all “absurd complaints” about the ITV show were rejected.

More than 150,000 people took issues to Ofcom in a record year, but objections to BBC shows are not counted as the corporation handles them in the first instance.

A foul-mouthed rant by Love Island star Faye Winter drew 24,921 complaints, as the ITV show came second.

Celebrities: What Happened To Your Face on Channel 5, and Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, took third and fourth, causing 7,125 and 6,486 complaints respectively.
