Morning Live: Oti says doctor Xand ‘can have’ her husband
Oti Mabuse stepped in to host BBC’s Morning Live today with Gethin Jones as Kym Marsh continues to recover from an operation at home. After a segment on how shopping receipts can be used to make some extra cash, resident doctor Xand van Tulleken joked he wanted to “steal” Oti’s husband Marius Iepure but he was left shocked by the Strictly Come Dancing’s cheeky response.
Morning Live presenter Sabina Grant investigated whether handy apps can turn shopping receipts into some extra cash.
After the segment, Gethin quizzed Oti on her receipt organising skills.
The presenter asked: “Everyone tells me Oti that you’re really good at organising your receipts, is that true?”
“Well it’s a half-truth,” she answered. “Basically from my mum and being in South Africa I’m used to collecting all of them.

“But then I put them in a bag really nicely and the receipt angel deals with them.”
“And who’s that?” Gethin asked and Oti replied: “That’s my husband.”
“That’s Marius,” the Morning Live presenter said. “So all you do is collect the receipts and he sorts them.”
“But you have to be careful in how you put them in the bag because the ink sometimes rubs off,” Oti said.
“You don’t want it to wear away and then it’s gone. I’m doing my bit Gethin don’t judge me.”
“You’re bigging up your job in that partnership, aren’t you? Teamwork makes the dream work.
“You’re not very organised are you?” Gethin asked Xand.
“If I can’t steal Kym’s husband I’m going to steal Oti’s,” the resident doctor replied.

“You can have him,” the Strictly champion cheekily replied.
“Sounds like a plan to me,” Gethin commented.
Earlier in the show, Gethin light-heartedly hit out at the newest addition to the Morning Live team during a chat with Kym from home.
Discussing the presenter’s recovery, Oti said to Kym: “You are quite active. It must be quite hard not to do the things you usually do.”
“Yeah it’s really difficult just having to sit and do nothing is horrendous,” Kym replied.
“One of the problems of having a hernia in the first place is it’s so restricting and it stops you doing the exercise you want to do but this is killing me.”
“When are you back?” Gethin asked and Oti hit back: “Are you that eager to get rid of me?”
“I love Oti but when are you back?” Gethin repeated and Kym said: “Soon Gethin. You’ll be sick of me soon.”
Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One at 9.15am.
