Michelle Heaton opens up about her first sober Christmas since rehab admitting 'I wasn't really there before'

MICHELLE Heaton has opened up about her first sober Christmas since rehab admitting: "I wasn't really there before."

The Liberty X star, 42, says she was days from death after going on a three-year cocaine and booze binge.

Michelle spoke candidly about just how important a milestone this Christmas would be as she enjoyed a star-studded day out with her adorable kids, Faith, 9, and Aaron, 7, and husband Hugh Hanley at the Clifford The Big Red Dog premiere starring Jack Whitehall.

She told The Sun: "For the first time in 5 years I’m actually going to be present.

"Before, well, I wasn’t really there.

"I’ve been sober for seven and a half months now, and I’m taking each day as it comes.

"I’m going to cherish this Christmas with my family, it’s going to be all the more special.

"I'm really looking forward to being with my family and enjoying it.”

Michelle looked phenomenal as she showed off her toned figure in tight pink latex trousers and a sleeveless black top.

She sought help after she had been downing up to two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka virtually every day since 2018, and snorting cocaine.

She was staring death in the face but wouldn’t accept it until she went into rehab.

Michelle recalled: "There was a moment when I said, ‘I’m not going’. My best friend kicked off at me and said, ‘Michelle — you’re dying’.

"It was a joint effort from all my very dear friends who wanted me to live."

Michelle was joined by a host of guests at the glitzy gala screening hosted by Alex Zane.

Star of the film Jack turned up with his girlfriend Roxy and joked as he addressed the audience: "I'm sorry it's only me. I know you wanted Clifford The Dog, but instead you just got me.

"I'm so excited. This is the first audience that is going to see this movie in Europe, and I'm so happy that you have all come out to see it."
