Hollyoaks' new Ollie Morgan actor Gabriel Clark is studying for his degree while working full-time on the soap

HOLLYOAKS newcomer Gabriel Clark is still a full-time student as well as working full-time on the soap.

The actor – who now plays Ollie Morgan in the Channel 4 soap – has been busy filming the soap as well as completing his degree at the University of Manchester.

He told The Bolton News: "I now do English Literature and Drama at University of Manchester, I’m in my final year whilst working full time at Hollyoaks.”

The actor replaces Aedan Duckworth in the role after he left the soap suddenly earlier this year.

Gabriel had previously starred in Hollyoaks as another victim of football coach Buster Smith.

Talking about joining the Channel 4 soap as Luke Morgan's son, Gabriel said: "I’m so excited to join the cast of Hollyoaks.

"Two years ago, I was part of the Buster storyline, so to finally be here, playing a lead role in Hollyoaks, it is very surreal.

"When I was younger, I did a few CBBC shows, but mainly theatre."

He will make his debut later this month.

Actor Aedan suddenly left the soap last month and was erased from the show's opening titles.

A spokesperson confirmed to Digital Spy: "Aedan Duckworth is no longer appearing in Hollyoaks and his role has been recast."

Aedan was last seen on screen as Ollie last month in scenes that were shot in March before the coronavirus pandemic halted filming.

In newer scenes since lockdown restrictions were lifted on filming, Ollie's loved ones aired their concerns after he left the village abruptly off-screen.

He left a note saying he had decided to go and stay with his mother, Scarlett.

No further information regarding his departure was given.

During his time on the show, Aedan featured in a hard hitting storyline which saw Ollie being sexually abused by his football coach, Buster Smith.

Ollie also became a dad to baby Thierry, but he was put up for adoption.

Aedan's exit is the latest departure from the Channel 4 soap, after it was confirmed last month that Imran Adams would be leaving later in the year.

Imran plays Mitchell Deveraux and will leave at the end of his current contract, while Rachel Adedeji left earlier this year.
