HELP! WE Bought a Village viewers all have the same complaint about the new property show, with many taking to social media to complain just minutes into the episode.
The thought of getting your foot on the property ladder seems impossible for many Brits.
But these budding house investors, have decided to take their cash and venture out – buying entire villages in Europe.
The latest episode of Channel 4 property lifestyle series saw the owners of a hamlet in France welcome guests to their 50th birthday party.
But viewers were not impressed with the commentary that underscored the show.
Nick Brimble, the show's narrator, is an experienced actor and voice-over artist, known for narrating documentaries for National Geographic, as well as video game characters, including John Watson in Sherlock Holmes.
Despite him being in the industry for years, viewers didn't seem to take a liking to his commentary on the Channel 4 property series.
One unimpressed user sniped: "Shame the producers had to find an absolute lovey who thinks he’s infinitely better, and more important than the viewer, and is clearly deeply in love with his own rasping, patronising voice to do the narration to this – programme spoilt.”
Another echoed: "I've watched a bit of it but find the commentary very annoying, the chap over-emphasises just about every word, it's as if he wants to be at the centre of it all.”
While another that agreed with the negative comments, chiming in: "I can't stand the commentary."
Even though most viewers weren't happy with the commentary on the show, others didn't seem to mind it.
One user, who actually liked Nick's narration, said: "I find most of the participants in #HelpWeBoughtAVillage intensely ridiculous, naive and irritating –
"The narrator is one of the few positives about this show, although many other commenters have differing opinions – that’s life, eh"
Elsewhere in the episode, one couple discover the water was cut off at their village in Portugal, while one owner spends Christmas alone.
Help I Bought a Village episodes will also be available to watch on All 4 shortly after they are first broadcast.
