Gossip Girl was the hit teen drama where the lives of private school students were made far more complicated by a mysterious writer posting personal information about them all. The series which originally started Blake Lively and Leighton Meester is being brought to life but this time on streaming service HBO Max. A new group of friends will be suffering at the hand of gossip and social media as Gossip Girl returns to cause trouble.

The synopsis for the Gossip Girl reboot reads: “Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.

“The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years.”

In this adaptation, a Gossip Girl Instagram pops up, sharing intimate photos that expose a group of friends.

This happens just as Zoya Lott (played by Whitney Peak) moves to town and becomes part of the gang – but is she really behind Gossip Girl?

In the reboot, the cast of Gossip Girl will be more diverse than the original series.

Talking to Dazed, actress Peak said: “There’s a lot of representation, which I can’t say we saw a lot of in the first one.

“It’s dope being able to see people who look like you and who are interested in the same things, and who happen to be in entertainment because it’s so influential and obviously reflective of the times.”

Other members of the cast include Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Jordan Alexander), Eli Brown and Thomas Doherty.
