Emmerdale set for explosive Christmas scenes as The Woolpack is burned down

Emmerdale looks set for explosive Christmas scenes as The Woolpack is reportedly "burned down".

Only recently, viewers have seen Al Chapman invest into the pub after Chas, Paddy and Marlon Dingle faced financial difficulties following a string of business disasters.

However, it wasn't long until Al was making cryptic phone calls to a mystery business partner and in recent scenes he was seen looking at plans on his laptop that said "The Woolpack Luxury Apartments".

And now, it looks as though a fire could be hitting The Woolpack as according to the Metro, they have reportedly seen images of the iconic pub "burnt looking and boarded up".

However, an ITV spokesperson told the publication: "We do not comment on storyline speculation."

It comes after it was reported that Ben Richards will be playing newcomer Gavin in upcoming Emmerdale scenes where his character will "ruffle a few feathers" in the village.

It was announced last month that Footballers' Wives star Ben, 49, would be joining the hit ITV soap with details about his character yet to be revealed at the time.

And now, according to new reports, Ben will be playing the role of villain Gavin, who is connected to Al, and he will make an "explosive" entrance.

A source told The Sun: "Ben’s a great signing for the soap and Gavin is going to ruffle a few feathers.

"He’s connected to Al and his scheme for the Woolpack and it’s going to be explosive."

OK! contacted ITV for comment at the time.

Exact details about Ben's character are yet to be confirmed by Emmerdale but the actor recently took to Instagram to share updates of himself on the ITV set.

Posting a selfie underneath The Woolpack pub sign, he penned: "An absolute joy rocking up to this stunning location. Thoroughly enjoying my time on this cracking set full of lovely people @emmerdale @itv #iconic #acting."

To which Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, replied with: "So happy," followed by heart emojis.

It comes after eagle-eyed fans had predicted that Ben's character could have been linked to the identity of Chloe Harris' father after they spotted a cryptic text in recent scenes.

Emmerdale continues on weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
