Viewers of the BBC soap are eager to find out what will happen with Gray (played by Toby-Alexander Smith) next. It’s been a year since he murdered his wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer), and he has since gone on to kill Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami). Now it seems he has his sights back on Whitney, who used to look after his children until the pair had a falling out. EastEnders fans are keen to see Gray get found out, but will he kill once more before the truth is revealed? With Whitney actress Shona “worried” about the character, it seems she might be Gray’s final victim.

But Shona admitted she has no idea where things might go with the storyline.

The 29-year-old, who has played Whitney in the soap since 2008, said: “I don’t know where this storyline is going and I keep wanting to ask the writers because I’m just so excited to see what’s going to happen. As a viewer and a fan, I’m loving it.”

Of course, Whitney has no idea what Gray is capable of, even though she was put off by a recent outburst which saw him yelling at her.

But last week, Gray saved Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) from a fire at Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) house.

Since then, Whitney has started speaking to Gray again, believing him to be kind and heroic.

But Gray killed his latest victim Kush because he became jealous of Kush’s relationship with Whitney.

“She’s getting close to him and she still has no idea that he killed Kush!” Shona added.

“I am a bit worried about her. Although Whitney is confident, she’s still quite vulnerable after Kush’s death – and Gray is charming, isn’t he?” She told Inside Soap.

EastEnders boss Kate Oates recently teased that Gray’s downfall is impending, but who will expose the manipulative solicitor?

With Whitney becoming close to Gray again and falling for his charms, it’s likely she might start being alone with him again.

She is likely to start looking after Gray’s children Mia and Mackenzie once more, which she has missed doing.

It could be that Whitney is the one to stumble across some damning evidence, and when she confronts Gray, he could try to kill her.

But will she be able to unearth his sinister side to other Walford residents before it’s too late?

Taking to Reddit, some fans have made their predictions on how Gray will be found out.

One wrote: “She will fall for him and then at Xmas she finds out what he has done and he will try and kill her but she will outwit him and he either dies or goes to prison.”

A second theorised: “She kills him in self defence in about two/three months time (or maybe Halloween night or something cliché like that).. then gets accused of being a serial killer using self defence as an excuse for the second time.. no one believes her.”

“She gets together with Grey, he starts abusing her, they get married (possibly) and then everyone else finds out at Christmas,” a third guessed.

It seems most viewers are speculating Gray’s defeat to be linked to Whitney, but will she survive?

With last week marking the anniversary of Chantelle’s death, and the Carters continuing their search for Tina, it seems time may almost be up for Gray.

EastEnders continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on BBC One.
