Whitney Dean (played by Shona McGarty) has lost her fiancé on EastEnders while Martin Fowler (James Bye) has lost his best friend. However, will the pair embark on an affair after bonding over their shared love for Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) and their frustration at his funeral being held away from Albert Square?

In tonight’s EastEnders, Whitney began to come to terms with the tragic loss of her fiancé.

She said: “We should be planning our wedding now I don’t know if he wanted a Muslim funeral or something else?”

Martin revealed: “We talked about it because of Covid we helped sort each other’s wills out. I’m going to help you with this Whit you don’t have to any of this on your own.”

Later, Martin prepared to speak to Kush’s Arthur Fowler about the death of his father.

Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) reassured her husband: “I’m here,” but Martin ignored her.

Instead, the dad-of-three opened up to Whitney about how much he’ll miss his best friend.

Could his reluctance to speak to Ruby be a sign Martin is pulling away from his wife?

“Arthur’s going to draw us a picture of Kush,” he explained. “I said I’d get it framed.

“He has no idea what’s happening, I thought us two being dads to Arthur was going to be hard.”

“It was the opposite, we talked about everything we planned every milestone,” Martin continued.

“His first driving lesson that was me, his first date pep talk, Kush fancied himself at that, pass on his unique charm so he reckoned, well you’d know.

“Our first game at Wembley, it was going to be all three of us. I’m so sorry Whit this is not about me I’m supposed to be here helping you.”

“You are helping me you and Sonia I really couldn’t do this without you,” she replied.

“The second I stop I keep asking myself why? Why didn’t I stop him from running? Did I do the wrong thing?”

“This is the Mitchells we’re talking about you had no choice, you had to run,” Martin said.

The security guard received a call from Kush’s mum, Carmel Kazemi (Bonnie Langford) who relayed some devastating news.

“Has she booked her flight?” Whitney asked once Martin had ended the call.

“Carmel’s not coming back once, they release Kush’s body it will be moved to Dubai,” he explained.

“Why? We’re engaged, she knows we’re engaged,” Whitney questioned.

“It’s not you Whit it’s Walford she can’t come back here not after Shakil and now Kush it’s too much for her,” Martin reasoned. “It doesn’t mean we can’t have our own memorial.”

“I don’t want a memorial Martin I want a funeral for my fiancé,” she hit back.

“I’m sorry I want to do right by his family, of course, I do but it ain’t just about them,” she added.

“Do you know what? It’s fine I get it, it ain’t Carmel’s fault she ain’t the one who did this.”

As Martin and Whitney plan Kush’s memorial together, the pair may develop feelings as they comfort one another over their loss.

Will they end up in each other’s arms as they struggle to open up to their respective families?

EastEnders continues on BBC One tomorrow at 8.35pm.
