Eamonn Holmes broke down on This Morning on Friday while explaining why his wife, Ruth Langsford, was not presenting the show with him.
The 59 year old, who was joined by stand-in presenter Rylan, was moved to tears as he attempted to read out a statement from Ruth.
Eamonn began reading out Ruth’s statement, saying: “My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken…”
However, the loveable presenter was unable to continue reading as his emotions began to show.
Rylan continued: “She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. “
As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”
Eamonn then went on to thank Rylan for being so caring towards Ruth and for stepping in.
