Series 11 of Death in Paradise is set to return early next year, and in recent weeks BBC bosses have revealed which guest stars will be joining DCI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) and Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) in the hit drama. And a number of fans will recognise the latest stars joining the cast thanks to their work in some of the world’s biggest series.
So far, the show has revealed that Ridley Road’s Tamzin Outhwaite, Waterloo Road’s Jason Done, Safe’s Ben Onwuke (Safe) and Jamestown’s Ben Starr will be joining the cast.
DS Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert), Catherine Bordey (Élizabeth Bourgine) and Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) will also be back to reprise their roles.
Joining them will be brand new Saint Marie officer Naomi Thomas, played by Shantol Jackson.
Taking to the show’s official Twitter page on Monday night, BBC bosses confirmed that former EastEnders star Nicholas Bailey and Vikings actress Isabelle Connolly would be joining the guest line-up.
Others also include Cruella actor Andrew Leung and Catastrophe’s Eileen Walsh.
Fans were quick to respond to the line-up announcement, with many taking to social media to share their excitement.
Karen penned: “My 13-year-old daughter says that the death in paradise special is going to be the best thing about Christmas!”
Jo tweeted: “Spill, please!! When is it back on our screens???”
While Ems added: “This is fantastic news! I was getting my Death in Paradise fix just last night! @RalfLittle is amazing & entertaining! Eagerly awaiting Season 11 here in West Virginia!” (sic)
User @Papafox said: “YES!!!!! More the better. Can’t wait for the Xmas special.” (sic)
Richard praised: “Yes please! I’ve watched every episode during lockdown… more please.”
The end of series 10 saw Neville on the verge of telling Florence how he really feels about her, and viewers will discover what happens next in the Christmas Special.
Neville will also attempt to keep his life on track with the unexpected visit of his chaotic sister, Izzy (Kate O’Flynn).
The upcoming series will see the Saint Marie police force investigating a number of suspicious murders.
When a skydiver dies, apparently stabbed mid-air, the case seems impossible to crack.
A murder on a golf course, a killer at a concert, and a mysterious case at a rehab clinic all challenge the team’s unique expertise.
Meanwhile, Florence will also face a big decision when asked by the Commissioner to go undercover to solve a drug trafficking case on another island.
While newcomer Naomi is determined to prove that she has what it takes to make a mark on the team.
Will Marlon be able to show the hard-working sergeant how some of his quirky policing tactics and light-hearted approach to work can still get the job done?
Will the pair be a match made in heaven or will their differing ways prove impossible to bring together?
Death in Paradise series 11 returns to BBC One next year.
