Faye Brookes' final scenes on Coronation Street aired tonight – and many fans were disappointed.
The Kate Conner actress sent shockwaves round Corrie earlier this year with her shock resignation after four years on the ITV soap.
The door has been left open for Faye to return as Kate is jetting off to Singapore to go travelling around the world.
A few of Kate's friends and family gathered in The Rovers as Johnny raised a toast to his "beautiful daughter".
Kate was left in tears – but viewers didn't actually get to see her head out of Weatherfield in the back of a cab and she didn't even get the final scene of the episode.
Taking to Twitter , one outraged fan said: "Diabolical. Kate should've been seen in a taxi – at the very least – going away. This was @Faye_Brookes' exit. Especially after her huge groundbreaking storyline with @BhavnaLimbachia. Ali is still going to be there on Monday. Kate isn't. Departees should ALWAYS be last."
"So that’s the exit they give Kate after 4 years? Faye deserves so much better," added another.
A third said: "They didn’t even show Kate going off in a taxi, wow the writers really give one"
"I expected more from kate’s last scenes, that felt like she was just going on a two week holiday, not leaving indefinitely," said a fourth.
Before leaving, Kate discovered that Gary Windass had given her £1,000 rather than step mum Jenny.
Confused Kate confronted Gary over the generous gift – and he claimed that his rich business partner Derek had donated the money.
Kate believed his lies and said Gary didn't need to feel guilty for Rana's untimely death from the factory roof collapse.
Hugging him, she said: "Let go of that guilt. I forgive you."
Faye became one of seven Corrie stars to announce their departure this year amid a mass exodus.
The actress broke the news to her devastated fans at the end of April.
She tweeted: "Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after 4 fabulous years in Weatherfield it's time for me to explore new opportunities, I've loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I'm off to pastures new. #corrie."
The actress has appeared in the soap since 2015 as Kate Connor, who is best known for her relationship with Rana Habeeb, played by Bhavna Limbachia.
Corrie bosses have confirmed they have left the door open for Faye to return in the future.
In a statement, Coronation Street said: "Faye is a very talented actress who has put her all into the portrayal of Kate Connor for the past three and a half years, we wish her every success for the future.
"She will be on screen until early autumn and the door will be left open."
