Maureen Lipman has described shooting a socially-distanced fight scene on Coronation Street, and it sounds complicated.
The star appeared on BBC One’s The One Show on Tuesday to chat to presenters Alex Jones and Gethin Jones about resuming production on the ITV soap.
Maureen explained: ‘It’s really weird, I can’t begin to describe how weird it is.
‘We did a sort of fight scene last week and I’m trying to get between two men who are 2 metres apart, and I’m in the middle going ‘pack it in, pack it in’.
‘It’s challenging, we are having to be resourceful, it’s a war, a war against a virus and we’re having to throw everything we’ve got [at it].’
It was first reported Maureen had returned to the Cobbles last month, after she was photographed leaving the set wearing a face mask.
The star joined the cast of the show in 2018 as Evelyn Plummer.
Her return to work follows news that she turned down an invitation to compete on BBC One’s flagship show Strictly Come Dancing.
‘I’ve been asked to do Strictly before, but I couldn’t do it,’ Maureen said. ‘I’d cry and there’s too much crying on TV already, isn’t there?’
She added to Prima magazine: ‘I don’t want to walk a pilgrimage or do a cookery show either. What could be worse than trying to talk and make a frittata at the same time?’
