Ben Shephard welcomed four hopeful contestants onto Tuesday’s show as Tipping Point continued on ITV. Adele, Ezra, Gemma and Shane battled it out for a chance to win the £20,000 jackpot but host Ben hit out at the contestants when all four of them failed to answer a question correctly in the first round.

For the first question of the show, Ben asked: “What name is shared with a district of Los Angeles and the male judge on the Great British Bake Off?”

Neither Adele, Ezra, Gemma and Shane knew the answer and the time ran out before any of them could take a guess.

“Not a great start,” the Tipping Point presenter quipped.

“Anyone heard of Paul Hollywood?” Ben asked and Adele replied: “Of course.”

“Ezra, you’ve heard of Paul Hollywood?” Ben questioned.

“I’ve never watched Bake Off before,” he replied and the host exclaimed: “You’ve never watched Bake Off, disgrace!”

Despite Ezra’s shaky start, he sailed through into the next round along with Gemma and Shane.

In the second round, Erza and Gemma both failed to add any more money to their jackpots after earning one and three counters respectively.

Shane boosted his earnings from £400 to £800 with the two counters he’d won.

But, he subsequently lost out to Ezra who secured his spot in the final with a £1,500 jackpot compared to Shane’s £1,000.

Ezra got off to a great start in the final by positioning his jackpot counter in a good spot in the machine.

However, the contestant’s luck ran out as he struggled to answer his questions correctly.

Out of the six possible categories, Ezra answered five of the questions incorrectly.

With the three counters he did win for one correct question, he failed to move the jackpot counter onto the second level.

For his sixth and final question, Ben asked: “‘Where do you want to go today?’ is an advertising slogan first used in the 1990s by which multinational company?”

When Ezra revealed he thought the answer was British Airways, Ben remarked: “Have we got the right answer?

“This hasn’t been the round we were hoping for, it would be lovely to finish with a correct answer.”

After being told Microsoft was the correct answer, Ezra quipped: “That’s the way the cookie crumbles.”

“It is, unfortunately,” Ben replied. ”Really badly in this round, very crumbly cookie there’s bits of cookie everywhere it’s been smashed to smithereens.”

Tipping Point airs on ITV on weekdays at 4pm.
