All characters confirmed not to die in the Emmerdale storm

With so many lives in jeopardy in the Emmerdale storm, frankly we’re worried about a lot of our favourite characters.

With people lost in the most ferocious storm to hit the Dales in living memory, cows stampeding and barns collapsing, plus the usual mix of high emotion, people with grudges and rivalries, heroes and villains, everyone is at risk.

In fact it might be easier to summarise who we know for sure is still alive as the dust begins to settle after the storm. Here’s what we know about those who will make it to the ‘safe list’ (though of course ‘safe’ is only ever a temporary word in soaps).

We know that Lydia (Karen Blick) is about to get terrible news – but at least she’s made it through the storm in order to get it.

Battling to find Amelia (Daisy Campbell) who has gone into labour, Lydia is in as much peril as anyone else, but she apparently makes it through, only to be given this horrendous news.

We know that Sam (James Hooton) has had a terrible accident and has become impaled on some farm machinery. Could he be dead? Or is the news about Samson (Sam Hall)? Or Amelia and the baby?

Marlon and Mary

As they wait anxiously for news about Rhona (Zoe Henry), who is out in the storm, at least we know that Mary (Louise Jameson) and her son-in-law Marlon (Mark Charnock) are safe and well at home. As long as the roof stays on Smithy Cottage, of course.

Bernice, Pollard, Bob and Diane

As the storm abates, Bernice (Samantha Giles) and Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) are left surveying the damage to the Woolpack, which has suffered badly in the storm. The following day as the sun rises and reveals the scale of the carnage across the village, Diane reassures Pollard (Chris Chittell) that they’ll be able to rebuild.

Bernice takes charge of the clean-up operation and thoroughly throws herself into the role – clashing with Bob (Tony Audenshaw) who also fancies himself as the clean-up captain.

Chas, Paddy, Aaron, Kerry and Al

After having to decide between looking after Chas (Lucy Pargeter) or Kerry (Laura Norton) when both women were hurt in the storm, Al (Michael Wildman) made his decision and chose to care for Chas and make sure she got to hospital.

As she recovers, she starts to worry again about whether Aaron (Danny Miller) will say anything to Paddy (Dominic Brunt) about her affair with Al, and tries to encourage Aaron to leave the village as she fears losing Al more than she fears losing her son at this point.

Kerry is keen to move ahead with her wedding plans, with Al trying to slow her down without openly telling her he has no intention of marrying her. Meanwhile Al promises Chas that they’ll soon run away together.

Chloe, Mackenzie and Charity

Chloe (Jessie Elland) is also making plans to leave Emmerdale as she copes with the news that she’s pregnant with Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb)’s baby. Meanwhile Mack’s sole focus is on trying to keep his fling with Chloe a secret from Charity (Emma Atkins).

Kerry is upset when she hears Chloe’s plans to move to Leeds and is even more upset when she discovers that Chloe is pregnant.

David, Victoria, Leyla and Liam

Bernice tells David (Matthew Wolfenden) he needs to start attracting customers back to the shop soon as he worries about this latest setback to his business.

Meanwhile Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) wants to know whether Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) has any plans to talk to Liam (Jonny McPherson), and Leyla does her best to put Victoria off as she’s not ready to start making amends with her husband yet.
