Wayne Mardle is riled – but "literally couldnt care" about James Wade criticism

Darts commentator Wayne Mardle has admitted that James Wade's criticism got to him but insists he "literally couldn't care less" about it.

After reaching the semi-final of the World Darts Championship earlier this week, Wade – who eventually lost to runner-up Michael Smith – went on a remarkable rant about Mardle, claiming the Sky Sports man always predicts he'll lose.

"Wayne Mardle, I love proving him wrong, love proving him wrong," he said over the weekend.

"I don't mean it in a personal or derogatory way towards Wayne Mardle, you know, he always tips me off to not do this and not do that.

"I've won more than Wayne did in probably two weeks than he did in his entire career. But he's hell-bent on being a little bit silly."

Following an active few hours on social media on Tuesday, Mardle told his followers: "If I block you today it's because you’re being a f***ing idiot. I’m changing the way I use Twitter. It’s vile. I’m going to be vile back."

After being told that Wade's comments had "got in his head", Mardle responded candidly.

"I literally couldn’t care less. The slating of Smith has."

Earlier, Hawaii 501 had congratulated Peter Wright on his victory in Monday's final, but when a fan accused Smith of "bottling" the match, the pleasantries ended.

"If you’ve got nothing better to do than slate someone who’s tried to achieve their dream…p*** off," he told one Twitter user.

"So, every time a player misses it’s because their “ bottle “ has gone?"

Mardle later revealed that he'd blocked over 3,000 Twitter accounts, and even posted a screenshot to prove it.
