Wales 21-16 Ireland rugby LIVE RESULT: Dragons hold out for win over 14-man Irish after O'Mahony red card

WALES secured a narrow win over 14-man Ireland in a pulsating Six Nations clash in Cardiff.

Peter O'Mahony was sent off after just 14 minutes for clearing a ruck with his elbow but Andy Farrell's men responded well to lead at half time.

However tries from George North and Louis Rees-Zammit put the Welsh on course for victory in the second half.

Ireland would have one more chance with a late penalty but Billy Burns incredibly managed to miss touch, ending the game and saving the Dragons from the nerviest of finishes.

    SEXTON SPEAKS

Here's what Ireland captain Johnny Sexton has to say on Billy Burns' blunder:

"As a ten you've got to go for it, you've got to go and try and put it five metres out.

"I did the same thing in this corner, like I just said sometimes you miss [and] sometimes you get it and you're the hero.

"But he did have to go for it because there's a big difference between going ten metres out and going five because there's a chance to score."
