FLAT racing has a new King.
Silvestre De Sousa, arguably Brazil’s most talented export, has made the best possible start in his new role as retained rider to King Power Racing.
With high-profile winners at the Chester May meeting and the Sandown Bet365 trials as well as plenty of success at a lower level, he couldn’t have imagined it going more smoothly.
He said: “Things are going very well with King Power so far.
“I’ve been lucky to be able to ride some very nice horses – some that we think a lot of. The best could certainly play a hand in the big days throughout the season.”
Perhaps the most exciting is Bangkok, who saw off Dante winner Telecaster on his reappearance before bolting up in the Derby trial at Sandown.
