United confirm status as comeback kings

Records tumbled at Goodison Park on Sunday evening, and this morning the history books are being rewritten.

Not only did Cristiano Ronaldo finally net a landmark 700th goal of his club career, Manchester United also sealed their status as the Premier League's comeback kings.

In rallying from 1-0 down to win, the Red Devils claimed a 100th Premier League victory in matches where they have conceded the first goal.

It's the most such wins of any club since the English top-flight was rebranded in 1992.

Ronaldo struck the winner on Merseyside after Antony had cancelled out Alex Iwobi's early stunner.

    McTominay out of Newcastle clash

Scott McTominay will miss Manchester United's home clash with Newcastle at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Scotland international picked up his fifth booking of the season during the final stages of the 2-1 win against Everton yesterday – despite only playing the final seven minutes.

The midfielder lost his starting spot to Casemiro for the Premier League fixture at Goodison Park, and had to make do with a cameo off the bench when replacing Christian Eriksen late on.

Yet within two minutes of his arrival, the 25-year-old was cautioned for a late challenge on Demarai Gray.

It was McTominay's fifth yellow card in eight Premier League appearances this term, and he will now serve a one-match ban.

    Good morning Man Utd fans

Bruno Fernandes has revealed his team mates were delighted with Cristiano Ronaldo’s 700th career goal strike.

“Every week, it seems like a new record [Ronaldo] and obviously we are really happy, ” Fernandes revealed.

“He’s been working really hard to find his goal, last Thursday was tough for him, he tried hard and the goalkeeper made good saves and the post stopped him. But today he had the goal, we win and that’s the most important for Cristiano, that the team wins.”

Man Utd are reportedly keen to bring in Odysseas Vlachodimos as a replacement for David De Gea, according to reports.

Mediafoot claim that the Red Devils see the Benfica goalie as a longterm replacement for the Spaniard.

The shotstopper was signed from Panathinaikos in 2018 and has been an ever-present.

Man Utd will hold talks with wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho over extending his contract, according to a new report.

AS, via SportWitness claim that the Red Devils want to tie down their Argentinian to a longer deal.

His current contract expires in 2025, and Erik ten Hag is desperate to keep him at the club.

Marcus Rashford reckons benched legend Cristiano Ronaldo could be unstoppable again – if Manchester United get the service right.

Ronaldo missed a string of opportunities when recalled for Thursday’s 3-2 Europa League win at Omonia Nicosia.

But fellow striker Rashford said: “We just have to try and keep putting the ball in positions where he’s in front of goal.

“I should have set him up for a goal at the end [vs Omonia Nicosia] but we can keep building and when he starts scoring goals, he won’t stop.”

Correct decision, in fairness, it ricocheted off Rashford's home in a tackle with James Tarkowski, before the England star went round Jordan Pickford to score.

It's the Dwight time to face Utd

Everton winger Dwight McNeil believes that now is a good time for his side to face Manchester United following their defeat to fierce rivals Man City last weekend.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, McNeil said: “We look at the players rather than their transfer fees, we try to assess their strengths and weaknesses and how we can exploit what they are not good at. There won’t be any feeling of inferiority.

“Every team in the Premier League has top players. United do, so do we. We know the outcome we want.

“It’s a good time for us to play United. At the weekend, they had a hard game obviously.”

Manchester United would want around £10million to let Cristiano Ronaldo go in January but there’s still no guarantee he’ll get his wish.

Ronaldo still wants to leave United behind, especially with the former Juventus and Real Madrid star set to stay behind Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in Erik ten Hag’s pecking order.

The Red Devils boss may still be unwilling to let the Portuguese leave as there is a risk he will not be given funds to replace him.

EXCLUSIVE – Inter Miami line up Ron move

David Beckham's Inter Miami are lining up a sensational January window swoop for Cristiano Ronaldo, writes Phil Thomas.

America’s MLS side are planning a return bid to try and sign the Manchester United superstar, after failing last summer.

Inter, the club ex-United star Beckham helped found in 2018, have sounded out the possibility, and prepared to offer a £30million package for the Portuguese legend.

United knocked back an attempt to sign him on a free in the last transfer window, insisting they wanted a fee.

Inter, who reached the MLS play-offs last week, believe Ronaldo could now be available for nothing, after Ten Hag made it obvious he does not have a major role in his plans.

Ron “not the player he was”, says Rooney

Wayne Rooney has blasted his former Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo by saying he is “not the player he was”.

The now boss at MLS side DC United, told the Portugal superstar, 37, to be patient while waiting for his opportunity under Erik ten Hag.

Rooney said: “The manager’s obviously gone a different way in terms of how they’re playing and been successful.

“Cristiano… him and Lionel Messi are two of the greatest players to ever play the game, but ultimately time catches up with us all.

“He’s obviously not the player he was when he was 22 or 23, for instance. It’s a tough one for him.

“Knowing him, it’ll be very difficult for him to sit on the bench. I’m sure if he stays patient, his chance will come and, again, it’s then obviously him taking those chances and trying to force his way back in.”
