Josh King next club odds: West Ham lead Newcastle, Everton & Man Utd in transfer battle for Bournemouth ace

WEST HAM are favourites to sign Bournemouth forward Josh King.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've installed the Hammers as the 7/4 leading contenders to secure King's signature during the January transfer window.

David Moyes is looking to bolster his attacking options next month to provide cover for injury-prone Michail Antonio and the struggling Sebastien Haller.

However, there are plenty of other suitors all looking to complete a transfer for the talented Norwegian.

Newcastle are second favourites at 5/1 to reunite King with former Cherries strike partner Callum Wilson at St. James' Park.

Everton are next at 8/1 as Carlo Ancelotti seeks additions to help Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who's scored 11 of the club's 26 goals this season.

Aston Villa are fourth in the betting, priced at 10/1.

King, 28, was a top target for Dean Smith before the Midlands side signed Ollie Watkins in a club-record £28million deal.

Manchester United were close to bringing King to Old Trafford last January before opting for Odion Ighalo instead. They are outsiders of the bunch at 16/1.

Reports claim Bournemouth, who are third in the Championship table with the most goal scored, are prepared to green-light a deal.

King's contract is set to expire in June 2021, so the Cherries could accept a significantly lower fee to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Betfair Spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom said: "With the January transfer window just days away, clubs will be looking to strengthen their sides, and always attackers are at a premium.

"Some clubs may look to the Championship to bolster their team. Reports this week suggest that Aston Villa may do just that and look to sign Josh King from Bournemouth.

"However, looking at the betting market, it's West Ham who are leading the way as 7/4 favourites to be the Norwegian's next club, while Newcastle are 5/1, with Aston Villa the outsiders at 10/1."
