Horse racing tips: Templegate NAP backed to finish like a train under Ryan Moore on day three of St Leger Festival | The Sun

TEMPLEGATE goes in search of some winners on day three of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster.

Read on for our man's top tips and find his breakdown of every race below.

INCHICORE (1.25 Doncaster, nap)

She came home like a train when fourth in the big-field Old Newton Cup at Haydock last time. She was held up a bit too long and the line came just too soon for Alan King’s mare.

Stepping up in distance in more testing conditions here should be ideal as she scored cosily at Goodwood the last time she tackled this sort of trip.

TRILLIUM (2.35 Doncaster, nb)

She is progressing fast and stepped into Group 3 level to score with plenty in hand at Goodwood last time out.

She enjoyed dropping back to this trip for that Molecomb Stakes success and looks capable of improvement here.

MUTAANY (4.55 Doncaster, treble)

He starts handicapping from a fair mark despite showing promise on his past two maiden runs.

He was a solid second at Nottingham before an improved effort at Wolver last time out. He has plenty of speed for this trip and is open to improvement.

1.25

INCHICORE came home like a train when fourth in the big-field Old Newton Cup at Haydock last time.

She was held up a bit too long and the line came just too soon for Alan King’s mare.

Stepping up in distance in more testing conditions here should be ideal as she scored cosily at Goodwood the last time she tackled this sort of trip.

Ryan Moore taking over doesn’t do her chances any harm either.

Mahrajaan is another who came home strongly over an inadequate distance on his latest start.

That was at York where he just couldn’t pick up the leaders over 1m4f. William Haggas’s hope is back from the same mark with every chance.

Fair Star has place claims if repeating the form of his close-up fourth here last month. He stays well and was beaten just a neck at Lingfield latest.

Sir Chauvelin may be 10 but he’s in fine nick having won at Musselburgh before a close second at Musselburgh latest. He stays well and trainer Jim Goldie is in fair form.

Mr Curiosity is back from a long break but likes this trip and should be fit enough to do himself justice.

Songo has been flying at lower levels and deserves a crack at this better grade.

2.00

NOSTRUM looked a potential star when scooting clear of his rivals to win on debut at Sandown 50 days ago.

He was still pretty green there yet the race was never in doubt as he picked up well and galloped right through the line.

Sir Michael Stoute keeps him to this 7f trip and it would be a major surprise if he wasn’t up to this Listed company and beyond.

The form of his win was franked when the third horse came out and beat today’s main rival Desert Order at Sandown last month.

That was still a decent effort from the Charlie Appleby runner who went down in a photo.

He improved from that when getting off the mark at York last time out in a big field.

He went from the front there and fought off the challengers well to win by a cosy half-length.

He is capable of winning in this grade but may have to wait for another day.

Crystallium is the only other one in the line-up with a chance on what we’ve seen so far. He was a smooth winner on debut at Chelmsford and could be open to any amount of improvement.

2.35

TRILLIUM is progressing fast and stepped into Group 3 level to score with plenty in hand at Goodwood last time out.

She enjoyed dropping back to this trip for that Molecomb Stakes success and looks capable of improvement here.

The Platinum Queen has loads of speed and landed a couple of hot contests at Goodwood and York before a fantastic second in the Group 1 Nunthorpe on the Knavesmire last time.

She was getting plenty of weight from her elders there but it was still a good effort and she is a big threat again.

Crispy Cat hit the headlines when he was almost knocked into the carpark by the winner when third in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

He has been slightly below par twice since then at The Curragh and Goodwood but is back from a little rest and dropping to 5f looks a wise move.

Malrescia has been on the podium in a couple of Listed contests and a Group 3 heading here.

She is probably best over this trip and has an each-way shout again.

Funny Money Honey has form on testing ground in France and could figure if the heavens open but she was well held at Salisbury last time.

3.10

TRUESHAN is on a different level to these rivals, especially with some cut in the ground.

Trainer Alan King has been a little more adventurous with his star this season and let him run on fast going last time when he was a decent third in the Goodwood Cup.

He was just over a length behind Kyprios and Stradivarius on the Downs and there are no runners of that standard to beat today.

This galloping track will be ideal and more rain would only help his chances.

It should be a good battle for second between Coltrane and Get Shirty.

The former’s best effort came when winning at Listed contest at Sandown over two miles in July.

He was then fourth in the Goodwood Cup before a distant second when well backed in the Lonsdale Cup at York. He stays strongly and won’t mind if it gets testing.

Get Shirty won Haydock’s Old Newton Cup over 1m4f before a good fifth in the Ebor under a big weight. He should see out this longer trip.

Stratum is respected for Willie Mullins. He won the Queen Alexandra Stakes again at Royal Ascot and won’t be stopping at the line.

3.45

TANMAWWY has winning form here and ran right up to his best when scoring in gutsy style at Ffos Las 14 days ago.

He goes on any ground and should be right there again in a fiendishly tough race.

Mums Tipple scored at Newmarket last month and was close to that level with a neck second at Ascot last week.

He is right at home over this trip and Ryan Moore takes over.

Shine So Bright was a Group 2 winner a couple of years ago and has found his mojo with back-to-back wins at Newmarket.

He has good claimer Harry Davies in the saddle and his stamina will be an asset at this in-between trip.

Juan Les Pins is in cracking form and made it four wins in a row here at the Racing League last month.

He has another 7lb to contend with but could pull out more improvement for Mick Appleby.

Able Kane won this 12 months ago from a 6lb lower mark. His past two runs have been encouraging and he was just a length off the pace at Goodwood latest.

William Buick takes over from a claimer today, which is a plus. Fools Rush In was a game Chester win on soft ground two runs ago and is only 3lb higher today.

4.20

GLENFINNAN sets the clear standard on what we’ve seen so far. He followed a promising Newbury fourth on debut with a half-length second in a big field at York last time.

He saw out this 7f trip well and looks open to lots of improvement.

In These Shoes looked a nice prospect when finishing second on debut at Carlisle last month.

She boxed on well up the hill and should enjoy this extra furlong.

William Buick riding for the Johnstons always catches the eye.

Richard Hannon won this race 12 months ago and runs Uncle.

He is bred to be a sprinter and should know his job on debut.

Bodorgan has Ryan Moore on board for this first run so watch the betting for clues about the Charlie Hills runner.

Pedrar has three runs under his belt in France but needs to improve on this debut for Scott Dixon.

Inverinate is the only other with experience but he didn’t show much at Sandown first time out.

4.55

MUTAANY starts handicapping from a fair mark despite showing promise on his past two maiden runs.

He was a solid second at Nottingham before an improved effort at Wolver last time out.

He has plenty of speed for this trip and is open to improvement.

Princeville scored at Yarmouth before a surprise all-weather defeat when sent off odds-on.

That is likely to have been a blip and this extra furlong should suit.

Zaman Jemil had plenty up his sleeve when scoring on handicap debut at Newcastle 15 days ago.

He relished every yard of the 6f there and will be a threat if repeating that returned to turf.

Celtic Champion comes here on the back of a good win at Salisbury. He stayed on strongly and hasn’t been clobbered by the handicapper.

5.30

PURPLE RIBBON put in a promising effort back from 10 months off at Lingfield 29 days ago.

She was held up for too long and didn’t get the breaks as she ran into fourth place.

She has the king of hold-up pilots in Jamie Spencer on board and their styles should be perfect for eachother.

There’s more to come from Charlie Fellowes’ filly on just her fifth run.

Royal Scandal had lots in hand at Kempton and makes her handicap debut from a fair mark. She looks capable of much better.

Wickywickywheels got the better of Strawberri at Hamilton latest and there won’t be a lot between them again with the former better off at the weights now.

Brunnera has quality but is entitled to need this after 316 days off. Goolwa is a Listed winner who is respected too.

2.00 Nostrum Well bred and looked a potential star when scoring on debut.

2.35 Trillium (nb) Big improver over this trip when winning at Goodwood latest.

3.10 Trueshan High-class stayer who will some cut in the ground.

3.45 Tanmawwy Back to best when scoring at Ffos Las nicely 14 days ago.

4.20 Glenfinnan Improved on debut when second at York last time out.

4.55 Mutaany (treble) Starts handicapping from a fair mark with more to offer.

5.30 Royal Scandal Has done well in maiden and can progress at this level.

SANDOWN

1.45 Woolhampton Has run well in stronger races than this.

2.20 Sarah's Verse Will enjoy dropping to the minimum trip with lots of pace on.

2.55 Fortis Regina Ran on strongly when third on debut at Newmarket latest.

3.30 Animate Battled well to score at Newcastle last time out.

4.05 Final Watch Is capable of better than we have seen so far this season.

4.40 Qipao Up just 1lb after winning at Beverley on latest run.

5.15 Vee Sight Went close in a much stronger race than this last time.

CHESTER

2.10 Ciotog Improved effort when fourth at Wolverhampton last time out.

2.45 Lord Uhtred Two good runs so far and can get off the mark here.

3.20 Young And Fun Well bred and should be ready for this debut run.

3.58 Sanks A Million Consistent and another good effort at Kempton latest.

4.33 It's Good To Laugh Goes well here and this longer trip is a definite plus.

5.08 Poet's Magic Best over C&D, went close at Ayr last time out.

5.43 Chimed Been knocking on the door and this looks a good chance.

SALISBURY

4.50 The Goat Good start when third on debut at Nottingham last time.

5.20 Caernarfon Consistent and on fair mark for this handicap debut.

5.50 Expeditious Put in a decent effort when fourth at Goodwood latest.

6.20 Brazen Idol Regular winner who will be right in the hunt again.

6.50 Ranch Hand Back from a break but has much the best form.

7.20 Wessall Improved from debut latest and this longer trip will suit.
