    MAN CITY are willing to let Ilkay Gundogan leave on a free transfer, if necessary.

    The Germany international has just a year left on his contract and is locked in negotiations with the club.

    Pep Guardiola's men typically sell players with a year left on their contract, but believe that the midfielder will offer the club a better return with his performances on the pitch next season than any transfer fee they are likely to receive.

    ASTON VILLA are plotting a raid on rivals Birmingham following their promotion to the Premier League.

    According to the Birmingham Mail, the Villans are looking to snap up former Brentford midfielder Jota.

    A fee of £4m plus Gary Gardner has been mooted for the Spaniard.

    WEST HAM are in talks with Olympiakos over the £16m transfer of midfielder Kostas Fortounis.

    The Hammers were interested in signing Everton loanee Andre Gomes from Barcelona, but it is thought the Portugal international will prove too expensive.

    As a result, Greece star Fortounis is in West Ham's sights, having worked with sporting director Mario Husillos during his time at Olympiakos.
