And to fund a spending spree, the Gunners may have moved closer to selling Alexandre Lacazette, as the Frenchman is reported to be Juventus' top target.

    Ian Wright reckons Arsenal have pulled off a “brilliant” move in signing Willian despite his age.

    The Arsenal icon believes the former Blues veteran, who is 32, could play a significant role in the development of young Gunner Gabriel Martinelli.

    On his official YouTube channel Wright, 56, said: “There’s that Brazilian connection and getting a player like Willian has got to be good for our young players because he’s a winner,” he added. “The more winners we can get in there the better.”

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has teased Gunners fans with a social media post hinting that he could be on the verge of signing a new deal with the club.

    The Arsenal frontman shared a post on Twitter earlier this afternoon showing an emoji of a sand timer.

    The 31-year-old has been in top form in attack netting twice to help the Gunners win their 14th FA Cup.

    And Mikel Arteta says he hopes to build his squad around the striker.

    Following their FA triumph Arteta said: “He is loved by everybody at the club. Hopefully he can continue with us.”

  • GUNNERS DIRECTOR IMPATIENT

    Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham is “impatient” for more trophy glory for the Gunners.

    Venkatesham recently took over the club's head of football mantle following the sacking of Raul Sanelhi.

    And Goal say the FA Cup winners have carried out a top to bottom reshuffle of their non-playing personnel.

    Ventakesham told Arsenal's web site: “Our fans expect and our fans demand that this football club wins trophies and is at the top of the game both here in England but also in Europe.

    “What fuels me is delivering on the expectations and delivering in regard to what our fans demand of us.”

    Arsenal have had a bid accepted for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, according to reports.

    Le 10 Sport claim the Gunners and Napoli have both had offers of £27million plus bonuses accepted and are now waiting on a decision from the player.

    Arsenal have already added French central defender William Saliba to their squad this summer but adding a left-footed centre-back, such as the Brazilian, is a priority for Mikel Arteta.

    Napoli have led the race for Gabriel for some time though, and the Gunners will have a fight on their hands to convince the 22-year-old his next destination should be north London.

  • LEEDS IN FOR MARTINEZ

    Leeds United are among the teams chasing Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

    The 27-year-old claimed this week ten clubs in Europe have enquired about his availability following an impressive end to the season for the Gunners.

    After an injury to first-choice Bernd Leno, Martinez enjoyed his first run in the team since joining Arsenal eight years ago.

    The Argentine stopper helped Mikel Arteta's side to FA Cup glory and an eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

    Martinez wants assurances over whether he will remain first-choice once Leno returns before committing to the Gunners.

  • ELNENY BACK TO TURKEY

    Galatasaray have entered the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, according to Turkish-Football.

    The Egypt international spent last season on loan at Besiktas in the Turkish SuperLig but could now move to their Istanbul rivals.

    Talks with the Gunners have begun and Galatasaray will soon make a formal loan offer for the 28-year-old.

    Besiktas were also interested in another loan deal for Elneny but are currrently involved in a pay dispute with the player.

    Trabzonspor may challenge Galatasaray for the ex-Basel midfielder's signature but Fatih Terim's side can offer Elneny European football next season.

    Arsenal have been busy organising loan spells away from the Emirates for several of their under-23 players ahead of next season.

    Zach Medley and Trae Cole will start next season at Gillingham, Matt Smith is joining Swindon Town and Zak Swanson is on his way to Dutch second division outfit MVV Maastricht.

    Deyan Iliev, Tolaji Bola and Ben Sheaf, who has been linked with a move to Coventry City, could also leave the club.

    Decisions are still to be taken on the futures of Tyreece John-Jules, Daniel Ballard, James Olayinka, Jordi Osei-Tutu and Folarin Balogun as the Gunners attempt to trim their bloated under-23 squad.

  • GABRIEL TO DECIDE FUTURE

    Arsenal will learn tomorrow whether their move for Lille defender Gabriel has been successful.

    The French side's president Gerard Lopez told BBC Sport “we are there now” with regards to receiving acceptable offers.

    The Gunners and Napoli are both believed to have had bids of around £27million accepted and the Brazilian will now decide where he wants to go.

    Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham is expecting an unusual transfer market amid the coronavirus pandemic.

    He said: “I think it's going to be a challenging transfer window post-coronavirus, it's going to be unusual and it's going to be challenging.

    “But we'll continue to work hard to deliver on our objectives to strengthen the squad and Edu and Mikel have a really clear plan around how they'd like to do that.”

    The Gunners have already secured the signing of Chelsea midfielder Willian on a free transfer.

  • ARSENAL'S TRANSFER PLANS

    Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham has outlined the Gunners' plans for the transfer market.

    Head of football Raul Sanllehi left Arsenal on Saturday, in a move that will see technical director Edu and head coach Mikel Arteta lead the club's recruitment process.

    Venkatesham said: “We have, in Edu and Mikel, two individuals who are responsible for our technical plan.

    “Of course, [that is] overseen by me and the board, but those two are the experts and they have a very, very clear plan about how they want to rebalance our squad in the short term, in the medium term and in the long term.

    “We're starting to work on that immediately in this transfer window.”

    Arsenal youngster Ben Sheaf is on the verge of a move to Coventry.

    The Gunners have accepted a £750,000 bid for the 22-year-old who spent last season on at League 1 side Doncaster Rovers.

    However, personal terms are yet to be agreed which has led Coventry to weigh up other targets.

    Mark Robins' side will play Championship football for the first time since 2012 next season.

    Following head of football Raul Sanllehi's departure from the club, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will havea greater influence on transfer decisions at the Emirates.

    Thomas Partey has been told to snub Arsenal and stay at Atletico Madrid because “they always have Champions League football”.

    The stark warning came from his Ghana national team boss CK Akonnor who wants the midfielder to stay pout this summer.

    Reported by CitiSports, Akonnor said: “Honestly, I wouldn’t want him to move to Arsenal because with Atletico, he will always play Champions League football.

    “His position is guaranteed and he will always play.

    “With Arsenal, I’m not too sure. Arsenal fans will kill me [for saying he should not join the Gunners].

    Italian paper Il Romanista reports Torreira has agreed to the deal after Arsenal decided against a £45million move for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

    Club chiefs appear to have found a cut-price option by bringing Diawara in without splashing any cash.

    Roma had reportedly slapped a £27m asking price on the 23-year-old.

    Football Insider claims the unwanted Arsenal midfielder looks set for a move to Spain this summer.

    He said: “He's young and a phenomenal talent, but we've never, ever spoken about him to Arsenal.

    “I've probably seen about 25 articles about him and Arsenal and it's so untrue, because I've never even spoken about him, I've never even mentioned him to Arsenal.”

    Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has released a joint statement with son Josh following the sudden departure of head of football Raul Sanllehi.

    Sanllehi was in charge of Arsenal's transfer strategy and the Kroenkes thanked him for his hard work in a statement posted to the club's website.

    They said: “Raul has made a big contribution during his time with us and will always be a part of the Arsenal family.

    “We thank him for all his hard work and expertise and wish him every future success.”
