MANCHESTER UNITED fans were rejoicing after learning Jesse Lingard could miss today’s clash with Leicester.
The England midfielder, 26, is a doubt for the game due to illness.
The playmaker has not registered an assist since January 29 and he has scored just once in 2019 – in the FA Cup win at Arsenal on January 25.
So despite the injury count totting up for the Red Devils, some supporters on Twitter were not complaining about Lingard’s potential absence.
As well as the countless celebratory GIFs, one person said: “I dunno how any United fan don’t see this as a good thing hes honestly one of the worst players in the league.”
Another wrote: “Great news what does he contribute apart from running around?”
A third sarcastically added: “That’s a shame. How will we ever cope now.”
And lastly, one user quipped: “He hasn’t been involved for Man Utd for the past year or so mate.”
JOSE MOURINHO believes Alexis Sanchez flopped at Manchester United because he is a “sad man”.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mourinho, 56, said: “Sanchez… I felt him [to be] not a happy man. And I think in every job you have when you are not happy it is not so easy to perform at every level.
“And maybe I am wrong. Maybe it was me who was not capable to get into him and to get the best out of him.
“As a manager sometimes you have the capacity to get the best out of the players and other times you are not successful in that approach.
But the reality is that I always felt [of Sanchez], ‘a sad man’. So probably in Italy he will recover this. I hope he can. I always wish well to every player.”
MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly interested in signing Man City target Florentino Luis.
The 20-year-old only made his league debut for Benfica in February, but has already drawn comparisons with the likes of Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante.
A Bola claim that the Red Devils have recently sent scouts to watch the Portuguese starlet in action.
It is believed that Pep Guardiola was very interested in signing Luis in the summer, but instead decided to prioritise securing the signature of Rodri from Atletico Madrid.
United were linked with a number of high profile midfielders in the last transfer window following the departure of Ander Herrera – but failed to secure any of their reported targets.
