Royal Mail gives update on postal delays this week – full list of postcodes affected

Royal Mail customers could be faced with delays this week as a result of “resourcing issues”. It has given an update on the postcodes which could be affected by disruptions this week.

Royal Mail has experienced a spike in demand over the last few months as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

With non-essential shops closed, Britons have had to rely on online shopping which has led to more parcels being processed.

Royal Mail will often update its website to keep customers informed of any delays.

This week, the postal service has shared the latest details on how services are running.

It stated delivery and collection services are running as normal in most parts of the UK.

However, people living in 12 postcodes may have to wait a bit longer for their post.

A statement said: “We’re delivering and collecting mail in all parts of the UK today.

“However, deliveries may be disrupted in some areas due to resourcing issues at some of our delivery offices.”

Postcodes affected this week

Braintree (CM6, CM7)

Chatham (ME4, ME5)

Kidderminster (DY10-DY12, DY14)

Leighton Buzzard (LU7)

Margate (CT7-CT9)

The postal service explained the delays have been caused by resourcing issues in the affected areas.

However, they are working to ensure few people in those postcodes will actually be impacted and many are still expected to receive post at least every other day.

“Due to resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures, deliveries in the following areas are likely to be disrupted this week,” Royal Mail continued.

“In those areas that are temporarily affected by very high levels of absence, customers can expect deliveries at least every other day.

“It will only be in extreme cases when this may not be possible, but these are the exceptions.”

Royal Mail explained the affected postcodes were experiencing delays at the weekend and this is expected to continue.

It added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

“We’re working hard to deliver as comprehensive a service as possible with the resource available to support these offices.”
