Queens thoughtful gift for Meghan Markle ahead of turning point in relationship

The Queen once gave theDuchess of Sussex a very special present to commemorate their first joint outing together.

Less than a monthafter marrying Prince Harry at Windsor Castle, Meghan Markle appeared alongside the Queen in Cheshire in June 2018.

The pair opened the Mersey Gateway Bridge and Chester's Storyhouse Theatre and also attended a lunch at Chester Town Hall.

The outing was the first time that the Duchess had attended an event with the Queen, now 95, without her husband the Duke of Sussex.

It’s also believed that it was the first time the pair had spent a large amount of time together.

But as well as accompanying Her Majesty on the day of royal engagements, the Queen invited Meghan, 40, to travel to Chester on the royal train.

Usually such invites are reserved for senior titles.

The trip would have allowed the women to get to know each other and after being pictured laughing and joking, it seems to have been a positive experience for the two of them.

And for Meghan's first outing away from her husbandPrince Harry, Buckingham Palace revealed that the monarch gave the now-mum of twoa pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings.

However, it’s not clear whether the gift was for the outing or a welcome present for the new family member.

Either way, it’s evident that the gesture went down favourably with Meghan as she wore the jewels to perfectly accompany her Givenchy dress.

Keeping things minimal, the Duchess opted for a thin black belt, black heels and a black clutch bag.

She wore her hair in her signature beachy waves and kept her makeup to a natural look.

Choosing something a little less subtle, the Queen wore a bright lime green Stewart Parvin suit and paired it with a Rachel Trevor Morgan hat.

Having moved to California in 2020, Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan have yet to introduce Her Majesty to their baby daughter Lilibet.

Speaking exclusively to OK! royal expertOmid Scobie claimed that the couple won’t introduce the eight-month-old to her great-grandmother this year if “security concerns can’t be resolved”.

Meghan’s friend and co-author Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and The Making of a Modern Royal Family said that the couple will be hesitant to visit the UK with their young family “due to safety reasons and the ongoing threats that they face.”

“As we've seen more recently, this issue of security and how that will be covered has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works,” he said.

“Unless that can be sorted, it might be the case that we'll just see Harry here by himself or Harry and Meghan as a couple without their children due to safety reasons and the ongoing threats that they face.”
