I’m trying to avoid him but I don’t want to complain to HR in case I lose my job.
Maybe I overreacted and what he did is normal behaviour.

Your boss is out of line and has taken advantage of you because he knows you are new and inexperienced.
If you feel strong enough, ask your colleagues if he has done the same to them.
Talk to your line manager, who should take this seriously, and to ACAS (acas.org.uk, 0300 123 1100), which advises on workplace issues.
