Aldi are well know for their cheap groceries, special buy items and speedy checkouts.

But, for some, having your shopping hurled in your direction is the worst part of their supermarket trip.

The method is modelled on German supermarkets, where you throw things in your basket and pack at a separate table.

However, Brits are stubbornly clinging to the old way and try to pack at the till.

And, they’re not always successful.

If you want to slow down the flow of your shopping at the checkout there are many tricks to getting your way.

Do you love it or loathe it when staff scan quickly at the checkout? Tell us in the comments below…

Some shoppers revealed that they scrunched up the barcodes on items so that they don’t scan the first time.

This gives you a little breathing room.

Others said they work in teams – one person packs and the other hands the items to the checkout worker one at a time.

Over on the Aldi Mums Facebook page, a mum said: "You can ask them to slow down, I do.

“They don’t mind.

“And never had a rude checkout operator either.”

It seems it really is as simple as don’t ask don’t get.

Other shoppers claimed that they’d been doing the same for years.

One person said: “I always ask the checkout workers at my local ALDI to slow down a bit, so I don’t get overwhelmed.

"They always say yes and it’s always very pleasant, never had a problem.”

Some claimed they enjoyed the speedy transaction.

Over on Kidspot one bloke said: “Keeping up with the ALDI checkout workers is a game for me.

“It should be an Olympic sport!”

When Aldi was asked explain why their workers are so fast, they claimed that staff were encouraged to be “efficient”, reports the Mirror.

This efficiency helps to keep prices down.

And, bosses say that Aldi checkouts are 40% faster than their rivals.

Workers are supposed to vary their speed to match the shopper’s.

So next time they’re throwing your food too fast, just ask them to slow it down.

Simple.
