Although you can put trainers in the washing machine, it’s not always easy to get rid of staining and discolouration.
One mum’s technique might just change all that, though, using household products to clean your trainers and make them look as good as new.
Interiors TikTokker Dee, who posts under the name The Mode Pursuit, shared her hack for bright white sneakers to the platform.
Starting off with some past-their-best Nikes, she showed how to completely transform them in just a few hours.
To recreate her method, you’ll need pre-wash stain remover, bicarbonate of soda, laundry detergent, and towels and cloths.
First up, spray your shoes with stain remover. Then take bicarb and rub it all over the stained areas of the shoes with a scourer or cloth.
Next you’ll need to leave them to dry for an hour, then wrap the trainers in a towel and put them in the machine with your normal detergent.
The towel should help avoid any bashing around in the machine, while the pre-wash work you did will become clear after a cycle.
Dee’s video has now been liked over 10,000 times, with people tagging friends in the comments to show them the results.
That’s not the only trainer-cleaning hack that’s swept the internet this week, either.
Another woman showed how to use denture tablets to lift stains from white shoes, soaking two pairs of Converse in Polident (what we in the UK would probably know as Steradent) and seeing amazing results.
Members of the cleaning group where the mum posted her trick were wowed at the cleaning power, with one saying: ”I have a feeling Polident is going to be sold out everywhere tomorrow.’
Those old trainers in the back of your wardrobe? Rather than consigning them to the bin, you could scrub them up and get yourself what looks like a new pair.
