There were no Monday blues for Michelle and Malia Obama, who spent their day touring a beautiful vineyard in the famed Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in Provence alongside several friends, just a few days after the family arrived in France on a private jet to begin a luxurious summer getaway.

The former first lady, 55, and her elder daughter Malia, 20, were pictured walking out of Château Vaudieu together surrounded by friends and several burly Secret Service agents, having seemingly enjoyed a tour of the historic building.

It does not appear that Malia’s sister, recent high school graduate Sasha, 18, joined the group, who are thought to have been given a tour of the château, which was built in the 18th century and sits at the center of 70 hectares of vineyards.

Girls’ day out! Michelle Obama and her elder daughter Malia, 20, enjoyed a day out at a famed Châteauneuf-du-Pape in Provence on Monday

Heading home: The former first lady, 55, pictured in a rust-colored dress and a sunhat, was pictured alongside her elder daughter, who wore a white strapless shirt and black jeans

Under the radar: Barack and recent high school graduate Sasha were not seen on the trip, however Michelle and Malia were joined by friends and several burly Secret Service agents

The property, which is one of only three 18th century castles in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, is located just 35 minutes away from the sprawling $60,000-a-week farmhouse where the family is understood to be staying for the duration of their Provence trip, which began on Friday.

And it seems as though they have settled very quickly into French life, with both Michelle and Malia looking happy and relaxed as they made their way down the steps at the front of the château and into waiting vehicles.

Clearly embracing the warm weather in the south of France, Michelle chose a rust-colored midi dress with thin straps for the occasion, accessorizing the chic look with a wide-brimmed sunhat and a pair of dark sunglasses.

Ever the fashionista, she also added a pair of espadrille-style wedges to her look, and she wore a gold pendant around her neck.

Malia meanwhile looked cool and low-key in a pair of black skinny jeans and a strapless white shirt, which she wore with a black crossbody purse.

The mother-and-daughter duo and their friends were surrounded by a team of plain-clothes Secret Service agents as they left the building, and headed into a waiting blacked-out vehicle, which was perhaps whisking them back to the sprawling house where they are staying.

But while Michelle and her girls appeared to be surrounded by friends, there was no sign of former president Barack Obama during the vineyard outing, however he did arrive in France with his wife and children on Friday night.

The foursome traveled to Avignon by private jet, just days after Sasha graduated from high school in front of her proud parents and her older sibling. Once in France, they were taken to the seven-bedroom Le Mas des Poiriers, a beautiful 18th century farmhouse that they are renting for the week, according to Le Parisien.

It sits on 65 acres – providing seclusion and privacy for the Obamas during their stay, while affording them plenty of room to roam around and soak up the sunshine.

The main house features seven double bedrooms, a family room with large windows that allow for natural light illuminate the lavishly decorated space.

It also has a big farmhouse style kitchen with a large family dining table in the center.

Since their arrival in Europe, the family has been enjoying the local sight and sounds, with Malia and Sasha spending a day at a popular local market on Saturday.

The famous L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue market is one of the top tourist attractions in the idyllic Provençal town known as the ‘Venice of Provence’ thanks to the scenic Sorgue river.

Kids only! On Saturday, Malia and Sasha spent some time without their parents, enjoying a tour of the much-loved L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue market

Celebration: On Sunday night, Barack, 57, and his family celebrated Father’s Day with a dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant, after he and Michelle visited Palais de Papes (pictured)

Malia and Sasha stepped out with a few friends to check out the market famous for its wide array of antiques, having apparently left their parents at home for the day.

Both daughters dressed comfortably for their day of sightseeing at the bustling market.

Malia wore a black button-down shirt with white detailing on the color and a pair of black shorts under an oversize black denim jacket.

Sasha opted for a more daring look, donning a white crop-crop top, classic blue jeans and a green military jacket topped off with a cheetah-print bucket hat.

The girls were accompanied by two pals, as well as a couple members of the secret service.

Malia was seen sampling fresh strawberries before purchasing some to bring home to her parents.

On Sunday, which was Father’s Day, the family spent plenty of time together, with Sasha and Malia joining their parents for a celebratory dinner at the Michelin-starred La Mirande restaurant in Avignon.

Luxurious: The Obamas are said to be staying at Le Mas des Poiriers, a luxurious 18th century farmhouse on Bathelasse Island

Pricey! The breathtaking property near the Provencal city of Avignon reportedly costs $61,800 (€55,000) to rent for the week

Earlier in the day, Michelle and Barack visited Palais des Papes, the biggest gothic palace in the world, where they enjoyed a tour of the historic site – and took time to snap plenty of pictures of the property and its stunning surrounding scenery.

As well as the Father’s Day festivity, the family will no doubt also be continuing birthday celebrations for Sasha who turned 18 last Monday.

She was pictured in her Class of 2019 photo wearing a white dress after graduating from Sidwell, Washington DC’s most elite private high school, which costs $40,000 per year, on Sunday.

Barack, Michelle and Malia were photographed sitting down in the stands and later mingling among the other families in attendance.

Sasha is reportedly set to start at the University of Michigan in the fall. The teen opted not to follow in Malia’s footsteps by attending an Ivy League school by allegedly turning down a place at Yale. Her 20-year-old sibling is currently enrolled at Harvard.

Proud dad: Last month, Barack watched on as his youngest daughter Sasha graduated from high school

She was last month pictured attending her high school prom in a classic black dress. Standing arm-in-arm with her tux-clad date, Chris Milton, the pair left admirers gushing on social media saying what a ‘cute couple’ the teenagers make.

And if the Obamas want to host a special meal to continue to celebrate Sasha’s graduation while they are away, their holiday home boasts a large formal dining room that seats up to 18 guests is also contained in the property.

The house comes professionally staffed with two chefs and two waiters, as well as full-time housekeeping.

Outdoors the property boasts a pear orchard that produces six tons of fruit annually.

The former first family could also enjoy a game of tennis or swim laps in the pool, or strolls out on the gardens.

For the past week rumors had been circulating the Obamas might be staying at the magnificent home of former French Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi, high above Villeneuve, AFP reported.

Avignon was the papal seat of the Catholic Church from 1309 to 1377 and can be seen at the medieval Palais des Papes (Pope’s Palace) in the center of Avignon.
